January 2012 Moms

What are you doing to get things going?

I'm due Monday so I know I have a bit time but am also a little nervous since I haven't progressed one bit in 3 weeks.

As I mentioned, my doc swept my membranes yesterday. I have cramps on and off but nothing significant and I get a bit crampy after every internal. This time I didn't even spot which is for some reason discouraging as it gives me the feeling that everything is shut solid and not moving :/

In any case, I'm ready to have my baby so I'm starting with some "tricks" to get things going.

Last night, after a looong time DH and I had some fun ;P. It was awesome HAHA. Then I ate a ton of pineapple this morning. I'm also doing some squats in hopes the baby will drop more. I'm not convinced that spicy food does anything but what the heck, I'll try that next. I really want to walk but being on bedrest I probably shouldn't. I just feel like the fact that I am on bedrest is slowing things down....

So... what else can I try without too much physical activity. I know I was already naughty last night Embarrassed

Re: What are you doing to get things going?

  • Honestly, I am too tired to do much of anything...other than chase after my two kids and clean up after them. I have been using EPO and I went to the chiro yesterday and he put some tags(acupuncture beads) on me to help but I am not holding my breath. I might look into some foot pressure points and I plan to treat myself to a pedi on Saturday(DD) if I am still pg. guess we will see what happens.

  • I went for acupuncture yesterday, it definitely amped up my contractions. Just took some castor oil, hoping the two of those together do something. If not I'm going to ask my MW to strip my membranes tomorrow.

  • Bouncing on a labor ball for 30+ minutes each night

    Drinking red raspberry leaf tea

    Eating spicy food

Going on 30+ minute walks each day

    Sex

Here's hoping these things work...induction is scheduled for 1.23 if not...but I'd really like to go into labor on my own!

  • Walking a mile every day... Nothing else really, i'm still a bit behind you ladies and hoping to get some good news tomorrow at my checkup!
  • had membranes/cervix stretched this morning (so far nada) will strip next week if still PG.  40 minutes on the elliptical most days and still trying to convince DH the baby isn't in mortal danger if we have sex.
  • going crazy waiting! trying to walk, sit/bounce on exercise ball, have sex, etc....absolutely no signs of labor yet.

what percent of FTM are induced? anyone know? really want to avoid that route.

  • well, i made those labor cookies tonight, so we will see if that gets me anywhere! :P (i've already had 6!)

we are trying hard to let this LO come out naturally, when she is ready.  but i have to admit, the past week and a half have been so uncomfortably, im more than ready to be finished with this.

we've had sex...hasn't worked.  my back hurts so bad, i can barely take a walk anymore...but, i do have contractions almost every time i walk for longer than 5 minutes or so.  they stop every time i take a bath though or relax, so that is pointless!  lol..i don't think spicy food would really work for me since i have been eating it this whole pregnancy.

guess my best bet is to just be patient and let her come when she wants to...i'm just really hopeful i don't have to be induced!

good luck to you all! :)

Labor Cake??? Oh Emm Gee. It looks fantastic.

  • Why are you on bedrest if your doctor is ok with you having the baby? I don't really get that.
