So I posted my 14w1d "bump" picture on FB for my family/friends only (posted it in our HDBD thread too). And my dh's aunt posts this:

- LOVE it! Thanks for sharing! Kristie is due in 6 weeks and that is about her size right now. She is a peanut!

Uh, yeah thanks for basically calling me a huge fatty. WTF???

I'm sorry, but that definitely made me laugh. I had my first "fatty" comment today too, so I totally share your annoyance. I've always thought that people get stupid around pregnant women and I think that stupidity is magnified on facebook.

This is not at all pregnancy-related, but displays facebook stupidity. A friend of mine got a crossbow from his girlfriend for Christmas. She put a picture up on fb and a friend of hers said "I hope he doesn't shoot you with it!" It still makes me laugh. Really? Why would that even cross your mind to say? And how do you respond to that? "Thanks?" "Oh, me too! I'm worried he might."

Anyway, sorry about the stupid comment. People are dumb.

Um, first of all, I saw your bump in the HDBD post. You have an adorable, tiny little baby belly. It is definitely all baby, because the rest of you is teeny. You look amazing.

So, one can only conclude that your H's aunt is on crack.

That said, (and this should come as no surprise to you), but I wouldn't lay down and take it. Sometimes people need to be called out on just how thoughtless their actions and words can be.

I would say something to the effect of "I feel great for 14 weeks! It's never a good time to compare bodies" or something to that effect.

Or, you know, "Well I WAS feeling good about my body until just now" or "are you sure kristie has been eating for the last 20 weeks?"

Some people have no sense of appropriateness. She is the one that looks like an idiot in the situation. Sorry you had this happen to you hun, and seriously I feel bad that Kristie has a wanna-be baby bump!

I hate that family members can't just be happy for you & just leave a nice comment, and that they have to turn your good news or something you post to be more about them. Does that make sense?!? I hate when family members always try to compare situations!

When I was planning my wedding my MIL told me that my wedding was not just all about me! I was so upset. I'm happy no one has said anything negative about my pregnancy or tried to burst my excitement.

I think post people don't actually realize that what they're saying is rude and actually are happy for the women they're talking to. People are just stupid around pregnant women and don't think about what they're saying at all.

Sorry. I think you should high five her. In the face. With a chair. Your bump looks great and size appropriate. You could link the Pregnant Chicken blog post where she discusses what NOT to say to pregnant women as a subtle hint.
