One way or another...

My doctor informed me today that they will not let me go past 41 weeks.  My due date is the 24th, so that means that they'd induce by the 31st.  That means one way or another, this baby is coming in January.  If I make it to my appointment next week, we'll schedule the induction.

DH talked about it in the car on the way home, and in that scenario we'll probably try to schedule it for the 30th or 31st to give DS every chance to come on his own.  We want to avoid a c-section as much as possible, and the best way to do that is to go into labor naturally or as late as possible.

As much as I don't want to be induced, it lifts a weight to feel like I know he's coming by a certain date.  In the meantime, I'm going to be doing everything I can to start labor naturally.  Bring on the coffee and ginger cookies!

    My doctor had the same conversation with me this morning!  Our problem is that we disagree with my due date (I'm basing it off of my ovulation date, while they're using my LMP).  I scheduled the induction for the 25th, but am considering requesting a later date.  Like you said, you want to ensure that baby has enough time to do it on their own!

    It's so weird to know that it will definitely happen by a certain date!

    My doctor said the same thing (although, I'll be 41w on February 1)! 

    Two weeks (especially the 39th and 40th of pregnancy) is a long time, so I hope for both our sakes things start happening on their own!  Good luck!

    Had this exact appt today, due date buddy!  I am trying to avoid induction at all costs as well...she stretched my membranes today and will strip them next week if I haven't had LO by then-since I'm at a decent station, dilating and effacing (3cm and 85-90%), she thinks this could help.  I hadn't heard of ginger cookies, but I do like them so I will pick some up anyways Embarrassed

    I am in the exact same boat but I might see if I can get induced on the 27th so MH will have 2 weekends with me and LO before going back to work. I am right now 0/0 at 39w1day

    Yep, I too haven't really progressed any.  Not dilated at all.  However, he did say LO's head is very low and said that meant delivery should be easier.  I meant to ask for him to strip my membranes, but his beeper went off to go deliver another baby.  If I make it to next week, I'm definately asking for it.

    I have the same induction date! I've been feeling some extra pressure (best way to describe it) down there and a few more BH so I'm hoping she's going to make her arrival before then but it's nice knowing the day I will absolutely get to meet her.
