O.k. I am new to the board and still learning the ropes. But I wanted to post on here because I am currently 25 weeks pregnant with Triplets, and I know they will end up doing some NICU time but after reading what ever I could get my hands/eyes on I am BEYOND scared.. NOW I should say I have had a great pregnancy thus far and EVEN working stll... even shocked my Dr. the other week... But from what I am reading about NICU stays and this and that I am starting to Have some hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I do know that the Baby C, well have to be spending a lot of the time in the NICU she has a very rare heart condition and has to have 2 heart surgeries all before her first birthday. But her Dr. My Dr. and Ped's. cardiologist are SURE she can make a come back from all of this. But what I would love to hear from mom's that have had NICU babies/baby is what there experience was. I can read till I'm blue in the face but i can connect a LOT more with mom's that have had babies in the NICU and can tell me straight forward the good the bad and the ugly!!
TIA!!
Re: Need some Advice!!!
Congratulations on your triplets!
Having multiples can mean pre-term labor, but there are several very successful full term stories as well.
I am sorry to hear about Baby C's heart condition, that must be scary. You will find alot of support here, but one thing that is important to remember is that every story/situation is different.
There is a huge difference between a micro-preemie and a later term preemie.
Feel free to check out the Preemie Resource Blog for some insight on expeirences we've all had here on the board and feel free to ask any specific questions you may have....

Good Luck!
Welcome and congrats on your pregnancy. I hope you can carry your trips long enough to avoid many complications. I'm sorry to hear about baby C's heart condition as well.
Like the pp'er said, everyone's NICU journey is different, but I would say that one common denominator no matter if the stay is one day or 6 months or more, is that it is a rollercoaster. Definitely a rollercoaster of emotions for the parents, and usually a rollercoaster for the baby too - with good and bad days. It does depend greatly on gestiational age of the babies as to what common issues they may face, but again, every baby is different so there are no hard and fast rules.
I can imagine that researching in advance, when you don't really know when they may come, could be really overwhelming, so I would try to not over do that. I also know several triplet mommies who made it pretty far into their pregnancies - some even avoiding the NICU all together, If you do want to read some of our stories, the blog the pp'er linked to has a bunch of our blogs linked to it.
Good luck - and feel free to post and ask questions at any step of the way!
This!!! Every week, every day that they stay on the inside matters! Everyone's experience differs sooo much. I have friends that had triplets at 29 weeks and they did amazing. They sailed through the NICU and all came home before their due date BUT other moms aren't so lucky. Definitely check out the preemie blog. It's a great resource! Good luck and congratulations on triplets!!! Wow.
I will be doing some looking into the March of Dimes. I had a Dr. Appt. on Monday and as of right now the U/S was showing baby A (who's is a boy) to be at 2 lbs! I know U/S can give or take some weight but this gives me a lot for hope the second baby was at lb Oz and then precious baby C was at lb 10 oz. the Dr. did state he is some what worried that there might be some twin to twin transfusion, and that we would have to do another growth in a week! Which to be honest I LOVE seeing those babies move around and getting more pictures!!!
He also said that if they keep growing the way they are growing then Baby A and B MIGHT be able to come home from the hospital if they are born after 35 weeks. This is for sure going to be a C-section When I talked to Doc about it he said the position they are in I wont be able to deliver naturally PLUS we run a risk with the twin girls. So I will be MORE then happy to do a C-section to keep my babies safe!! THANK YOU so much for your advice it has helped a lot and helped me think of and start asking question's that I never would have thought of!!!
Thank you LADIES.. YOU ALL ARE GREAT!!!
