C-sections

Silly Question: Can you wear make up?

I have an entire family ready to go with charged cameras and I was wondering if I can wear make up to the hospital. Of course not a ton or anything, but enough to make me not feel like- blah. I want to look back at these pictures and not go eww.

I know it sounds silly...

Re: Silly Question: Can you wear make up?

  • Yes! With my second c-section I was up at 3 am taking a shower, doing my hair and make-up..  I was too excited to sleep! I also did my nails in blue to match those awful gowns :) I plan on doing the same with my 3rd c-section as well :)

  • I showered, wore makeup and contacts and dried my hair beforehand.  I cant say it looked great after surgery but I felt better about myself like that

  • you sure can!  i fixed my hair and wore make up, and it was awesome not looking like death in my first pictures with her and my visitors, ha!  everyone that visited me commented on how great i looked, but i don't think they had ever visited anyone that didn't have to go through hours of labor and pushing!

  • Yup!!!  I am having my BFF's mama french braid my hair. And I am wearing makeup and getting my nails done.

With DD I was in labor for over 20 hrs then had and emergency CS and I looked like I was near death, now to be fair... I was....but no one wants to look like that in their first pic with their baby.

This time I am going to look pretty and at least look semi healthy and I am so happy about it!

  • I asked this same question on here before mine.  I felt so vain but I wanted to feel normal.  I didn't wear a ton, but one of my nurses actually complimented me on the waterproof mascara I bought just for the occasion while I was crying right before.  I get overly emotional and knew it would happen so I figured I'd be proactive lol.

  • This must be a hospital to hospital type thing!  I was told no make-up or nail polish! And I was told it was so that if something went wrong they could tell by how pale you are in your face (make-up hides that) and if your fingernails turn white, it's a sign too.  But, I'm thinking next time around I'll put just a little make-up on... I look at DS's birth pics, and my skin was shiny/oily looking in most the pics since I had no make-up on!

  • I put on foundation. I skipped the mascara because I knew I would be a sobbing mess. I kept my hair in a pony tail.

  • Yep!  I felt much better knowing I looked decent that day.  I got up really early to blow dry my hair and put on makeup.

  • My c section was not planned (I was in the hospital for testing when they decided it was time for my little girl to be born) so I had my normal make-up on. The only thing they made me take off was my jewelry.

  • I wore make up, nail polish, contacts.  I think I took my wedding ring off though but can't really remember.  I know I did for the maternal surgeries.
