Perihilar Opacity

Does anyone know what that is??  Grayson has it/one?  He also has a possible shunt.  He has been turning purpleish and blueish when he crys, eats, etc.  The dr said his mottled skin tone indicates maybe that his blood flow isn't getting where it needs to go.  They did a chest Xray and found the possible shunt and then the Perihilar Opacity.  We are being refered to the Childrens Hosptial in our state to see a PediCardiologist.

  • Im sorry you are going through this! A perihilar opacity could be a few things. It just means there is something in that part of the lung. It could be a small pneumonia or it could be a bit of fluid or wetness in the lung. A shunt could lead to some fluid buildup in the lung which may show up on a chest xray as an opacity. I hope you get some answers from the Pediatric Cardiologist.
