Hi!
I havent been on in soo long but hopefully now i can!!!
MY lovely dd has slept in her crib very well up to 6 months old. She seemed then not to sleep in it at all! I gave in and let her sleep in the bed, so i can get sleep. Plus its been soo cold i want her to stay warm. She will sleep on her own on the floor and naps on the bed, but if i try puting her in the crib she screams soo hard. I try the cry it out method but i just feel soo bad. Like i should have did it when she was 6 months not 10. Any ideas how to make the transition to crib easier? We will be trying soon for another baby and Im going to need as much space in bed as possible. Thanks
Re: sleeping
This is a mommy no-no but I don't care, it is also pretty cold in DS' room and we bought a heater. I am hoping to stick to my guns and not let him crawl into bed with me, so I wanted to make his room as comfy as possible. I altered the CIO a little bit. The doctor said if you do that, you need to let them CIO all the way. I only do 10 minutes, then go in and comfort. Sometimes that's all they need.
Do you have something that plays soothing music? We have the Ocean Wonders star that projects a picture and plays ocean sounds on the ceiling. We also have the Fisher Price blue seahorse--kind of like the glow worm but in sea horse form
It's pretty cold here too, so I try and make sure DD is as warm as possible. She either wears socks, a cotton sleeper and a fleece sleep sack, and on really cold nights and fleece sleeper and a cozy Aden and Anais sleepsack (the thick one). I do have a space heater in her room but I'm paranoid of overheating so I don't use it over night.
We also had to start a modified CIO. The longest we've ever let DD go is 20 minutes without going in to comfort her. I find if we let her go any longer it takes so long to calm her down again. I have also found a very structured bedtime routine including some white noise (we have a sleep sheep) lets her know that it's time to go to sleep.
