Maternity pants, late in pregnancy. Also support belts?

I'm curious what the reality of having over belly panel pants with a twin pregnancy (bearing in mind I got pretty enormous just with singletons).  I just got some leggings from Old Navy that go over the belly, and I'm wondering if I should exchange them for under the belly leggings.

Also, did anyone use a support belt?  I never have, but wonder if I'm missing out on something wonderful.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Maternity pants, late in pregnancy. Also support belts?

  • Almost all my pants are full panel, including the leggings. I really like them, but haven't gotten too huge. I think they'll work for me the entire pregnancy. I'm not a fan of the under the belly because they feel like they're going to fall off all day.

My aunt got me a support belt this weekend, but I'm not sure how I like it. The support on my back is nice, but not worth the pressure it's putting on my belly. I'm pretty sure I'm going to return it.

  • I've hit the stage of my pregnancy where my pants don't fit over my belly. But, I'm only 5'3" so I think that has a lot to do with it. While I can't wear the panel over my belly I don't like the under the belly pants either because I do feel like they are  falling down constantly. This problem has caused many breakdowns in maternity clothing stores :) .  Also, I have a support belt. I don't wear it all the time, but my girls are really low and cause a lot of pressure. It really does help take the pressure off.

  • Mine stretched over my belly till the end.  I also bought plus size black pants size 1 from Target (just happened to discover them in the clearance section for $4).  The panel fit over my belly better than my pregnancy pants.  Although they were huge, I never left the house and they were so comfortable.

  • All my pants are full panel. I went for it right away. I hope they work out until the end because I really don't want to buy more pants! I also don't think I would be comfortable with under belly pants. I am always tugging my shirt down the way it is.

The two pairs of leggings I have are from Motherhood Maternity. I went up a size and they are extra roomy in the panel area, so I am hoping to grow into them.

I have a support belt from Gabrialla. I initially got it for running, but am not mostly walking. It was cheap on Amazon. I've only had a it a few weeks and the size I am at I am not sure if it's helping a ton yet, but it will be nice as time goes on.

  • I've outgrown all of my full panel pants.  I still wear them, but I have to fold the panel down otherwise I get huge dents in my stomach because the panel is too tight.  I'm 5'4, pre-pregnancy weight of 115 and I'm up to 161 and ALL belly so that might have something to do with it.  If I get bigger sizes I am swimming in them everywhere else so I'm stuck with under belly (which I am constantly adjustign) or folding over my  full panel.

  • I've been wearing the full pannel and love them however JUST TODAY I have noticed that the top of the band is tight and putting a red ring around my belly.  I work in a law office and professional dress is required however I just got the okay to wear yoga pants for the remainder of hte pregnancy.  Thank God Destination Maternity is right around the corner from work.  I'm going today to pick up a few pair during lunch.

  • I got my support band from Motherhood Maternity. I would just go to any place that sells one and try one on. I wore mine right out of the store because it made an instant difference in how my back felt. Now I wear mine to work everyday.
