I just got nagged by the nurse who gave LO his flu booster about not getting mine yet. Is it too late? I don't even have a doc! Should I just man up and get one at HE B?
it's definitely not too late since flu season hasn't even hit yet (so says my pedi). i got mine in november cause my work was giving $10 starbucks giftcards if you got them. i went to my dr, but i'm sure you could just go to HEB or walgreens. i think it's $25 without insurance.

I always get mine at the CVS Minute Clinic since I don't have a PCP. My insurance covers it, so there's no charge. I'd definitely get one to protect you and your LO.

thanks - I will go! here's my next question... if I'm still nursing and he got one today, is that too much flu vaccine for him?! I'm so paranoid.

hmm, not sure on that one. i have no idea how much, if any, of the vaccine would pass through your breastmilk. maybe call and ask your pedi?

That's a good question - I'm not sure. My guess is it would be OK, but you can always ask when you go. Make sure you tell them you're nursing. I think they only have preservative-free shots there, but it doesn't hurt to let them know so they'll make sure to give you the preservative-free one.

thanks. maybe with insurance it is free?
depends on your policy. if your policy covers it then go to the minute clinic at cvs - then it is free. (but if you go to heb it won't be covered) weird i know.

I'd call his pedi and ask.

If your breastfeeding you might want to get a mercury free one. Can you get those at CVS/HEB?
ETA: We skip the flu shots now but I got one when Megan was a baby and nursing and got the mercury free one because that was the rec of my PCP
