Occasionally I'm going to post some "Things my co-worker says", because I'm usually left speechless.

So today she says, "Can you tell the difference between someone who is Korean, Japanese or Asian?"

When we told her that Korean and Japanese people ARE Asian, she was confused and just laughed it off saying, "It's a common mistake..."

There were no words...

Ohh, it doesn't...

She thought there were 56 states... I don't even remember the conversation, but she chimes in with, "There's 56, right?" And my cheeks were burning from laughing! I just don't get it!!!! I mean, I am by no means a genius or think I'm the guru of all things educational, but these things are common knowledge (or so i thought)!

I have an ex roommate who tried to tell me that people from the IndoPaki subcontinent are not considered to be from Asia, because they are not of mongolian descent. Hmm

At least this is a debate... And a trip to Google would be in order to settle this one. But to not know that Asia is a continent and Japan/China/Korea are regions of it would be a trip back to Elementary or Middle School.

But it is crazy what goes through some people's minds sometimes!

People like that should never be allowed to travel outside the country. I hope she never tries. People hate us enough in the world - can you imagine if she asked that question while in Korea or Japan? Ugh!!!

I was traveling with a group years ago and this nasty girl on the trip said, "what is wrong with these people, why don't they speak English?" We were in Germany at the time. She really thought the entire world spoke English. I couldn't apologize enough to those nearby who understood her!

Uh mah laaawd... That IS embarrassing... The crazy thing is you were probably more embarassed than her, if she even was at all. People with an attitude like that usually just piss me off..
