If you have an LO already same sex as this LO

How are you find things to do differently for this one?  I'm trying to think of nursery ideas, but all I can think about is DD1's.  I love her nursery, and everything about it.  We didn't do a theme, just a color scheme.  So every time I try to figure out what I want to do with this DD's nursery, I just keep thinking of DD1's room, and nothing seems as good.  What are you doing?

  • Well, we are using all the same bedding (ordered a 2nd set as well) and will add a few different touches to it. I want the nursery to be great but with 2 coming, I couldn't justify buying double the bedding etc when I already have to get the cribs and dressers and what not. My grandmother made DS1 a quilt so I am going to redo his big boy room to coordinate with that theme.

  • We don't know if this one will be a girl again or not, but baby will be using the same room, crib, furniture as DD2.  The 2 girls we already have will move in together and share a room.

We'll get new bedding regardless of sex as DD2's sheets and bedspread will go on her toddler bed in her new room.

I'll pick something DH and I like for this little one and when they're ready for a big kid bed, let them have some creative input.  I think I'll be stumped on a mobile though for this one as I looooved DD2's mobile.

  • I felt the same way about this LO's nursery...IMO it's hard enough to find cute, baby boy stuff for 1, let alone 2 lol.  And I had DS1's nursery in my mind for years, so felt nothing would measure up.  The first thing I did to gain "peace" with this (not to be dramatic haha) was make the decision not to change DS1's room right now.  I initially was going to make his "big boy" room before his little brother came but I was unreasonably sad about doing this, so I'm not.  I've also decided to use essentially the same color scheme/feel that I loved so much with DS1 in DS2's nursery, but emphasize a different color, if that makes sense.  For example, I did blues & yellows with DS1 with green as an accent color.  This time around, I'm going to have the light green as the dominant color with blue playing a much more minor role, but the hues will be in the same family.  Also, I LOVE white baby furniture, & have to decided to just have white in both the boys' rooms.  So, if you think the furniture is something you love about DD1's room, try & do a similar thing with DD2.  Also, I'm moving some stuff from DS1's room to DS2's room with a little updating.  For example, DS1 currently has PBK's "My First Anywhere Chair."  I'm going to buy a new slipcover & move this to DS2's room, and get DS1 the Anywhere Chair in the next size up...maybe there are elements of your daughters' rooms that this would be possible as well.  Hope this helps a little, it seemed kind of daunting to me at first, but now I'm enjoying the creativity part ;-)

  • We are using the same bedding, furniture, etc.  I was going to get new stuff, but decided to save some money and re-use since DD only used it for 1.5 yrs.  Then when this baby gets around 18-24 months, she will get her own new bedding, decor, etc. just like DD #1 did.

This.  We just added a few new touches for dd2's nursery.

  • So far, this being number 3, we have kept a Shabby Chic feel to the room. The oldest had pink and green and cream. Took the bed skirt off and made a new one for DD2, purple, green and cream. Made a new bedskirt for DD3, it's just cream but her colors are black and cream with a hint of pink. They all used the same crib/dresser and chest. However I did end up painting the crib this time (black). It was looking a little rough but still holding up good for being used for 5 years.

  • Our daughters will be sharing a room and we are not doing any redecorating. We will get a new bed for DD1 and match the bedding and do some work to create extra storage. That's it!  The room was decorated less than 2 months ago. I couldn't imagine spending money on redecorating it!

  • I am trying to work with the existing paint color in our third bedroom to cut down on some of the work, so I am hoping to find some cheaper bedding to go with it.  We could re-use DD1's bedding, but with the wall color I think it would seem too boy-ish.  I've found a couple of options I like for under $100, so we'll see if I can bring myself to shell out the money.

I'm also considering selling DD1's bedding on craigslist, as the majority of the pieces got very little or no use.  That could help offset the cost of the new bedding.

  • I had a hard time getting away from the style of DD's crib (that has been converted to a bed and the rooms are right next to one another).  I'm doing another white crib and white furniture, but I'm intentionally going a totally different route with the colors.  DD's room has yellow walls, and the crib bedding was white, purple and green.  When we converted the crib to a bed, I found bedding with white, yellow, purple and green, so the color scheme has stayed the same.  This time, I wanted to leave the nursery the light blue it is currently painted and found bedding with pink, green, blue and white.  This room will have accents of pink and green, including the pink and white valance and pink, green and white rug.  It was hard getting away from the colors in DD's room since I really like her room, but I felt like they should be different.

  • DD#1 has a green room with flowers and pink accents.  DD#2 has a pink room with Owls and green accents.  This LO is also a girl, we are doing Ladybugs (pink/green ladybugs) not sure yet what color to do the room.  I don't want to do another pink or green room, so I am thinking of maybe doing it in a light beige (the bedding has brown in it also).

I got all of my kids bedding sets from Target, they have all the matching pieces (lamps, pictures, decals, pillows etc). I also buy the toddler bedding sets, rather than buying the nursery sets because I find that I don't use them very long (especially the blanket which is small) and they are expensive.

    Good luck.
