Success after IF

Should I take her to the pedi?

We just got over the stomach virus, and now poor Caroline seems to have gotten my cough.

It is deep and yucky...but I'm sure it is just the same viral bronchitis I had.  She doesn't have a fever...

Is that worth a trip to the pedi?  My gut says they aren't going to do a whole lot for her...but I'd hate to miss anything...

Re: Should I take her to the pedi?

  • At that age I wouldn't take her for a cough until she's had it for a week, she's gone several nights without being able to sleep due to the cough keeping her up or if she had other symptoms of concern (fever).

Every time we go to the pedi we end up with a new ailment so I avoid it like the plague unless I'm confident they're going to be able to improve our situation.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

  • If my kids get a really bad cold, it usually ends off with a cough for a week at least.  Sometimes longer.  I have taken them in before, but our doctor never gives them anything for it.  I would probably wait it out a little longer if she is eating/drinking/sleeping okay.  And no fever.
  • Nicholas started with a really bad cough yesterday.  Kind of like what you described.   No fever and no runny nose though.   I'm hoping he doesn't hack up a lung in front of my mother tomorrow- she'd be all over me to take him to the Pedi.

I'm going to wait a little longer since he seems to be acting normally otherwise.

  • Thanks girls.

I called and talked to the nurse, and she said there is a virus going around.  The only symptom is cough and maybe a runny nose...and it lasts two weeks.  She said if she coughs longer than 2 weeks or runs a fever to bring her in, but otherwise no...
