Vicks vapo-rub?

Has anyone used this with their LO? Just curious because DD has a cold and terrible congestion right now. I'm doing everything else for it but I remember my mom always using that on me.

Since she's 3 she's in the 2 and over range that the directions state on the bottle but I was wondering if anyone had used it just on LO's chest?

Also, DD's humidifier (that's currently on) has a vick's strip in it which emits a light scent of the medicine.

    I heard on LO's (and even works with us) if you put vicks vapor rub on their feet and then cover them with socks, it helps a lot and it isn't as messy or overwhelming to them.  I used it on my 4 year old once or twice and didn't think anything of it.

    My brain's not working well right now, but I thinkI remember having a baby or kids one for DD when she was very little.  It was a red jar.

    We have the Vicks Baby Vapor Rub and have used int on DS since he was 6 mos old (safe age to do so as indicated on the box).  I think it helps, but our pedi said that its just a medicine that smells nice and doesnt do much.

    I had been using it, but during DSs last cold his pedi said that new evidence shows that vapo-rub actually draws moisture into the lungs, so not to use it anymore.

    I used it recently on both LOs while they had bad coughs and were congested. They didn't mind it on their chests, so I put it there, but also put it on their feet (supposed to help with coughs).
