We went in for our appointment to confirm the pregnancy yesterday, and we got the results today saying that we are definitely pregnant
Once we got the results, the doctor asked that I come in for my ultrasound on Friday.
During the appointment, he asked for the first day of my last period (12/7), but I explained to him that I usually ovulate later, around day 21. We only BD'd on days 18, 21 and 24 as we weren't trying that hard this month, and if I had to guess, I would guess that conception happened on day 21. If that's the case, I will just be 5 weeks and a few days pregnant on Friday. Will an ultrasound actually show anything that early? I'm just concerned that he is dating our pregnancy from 12/14 rather than from somewhere between 12/18-12/27, which might make the sonogram on Friday not that helpful.
Also, do you usually bring your DH to the appointments? DH came to my first one since he was off work due to the holiday. He's a teacher, so it's hard for him to get off of work, and I don't want him to have to take off work for appointments that aren't very pertinent to him. Of course, I do want him at each of the ultrasound appointments, if possible!
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Re: Pregnancy confirmed - question on 1st sonogram
Im 7 weeks tomorrow. They actually did an unltrasound to confirm pregnancy because my doctor had some extra time. At the time I was only 5 weeks.
You will just see a black dot which is the gestational sac with nothing inside. Its about 6 weeks to see a heartbeat.
But you will see a little black dot which will be exciting. Its great to see it grow!
Good luck!
my dh only goes to big appointments- like a/s and such. as he has to work and if not at work no pay!
as for the 5 weeks it will be too early to see anything - if you are 6 weeks you may see a HB. good luck you can google a 5 weeks ultrasound and see what you may expect
I had an u/s around 5w5d, and we saw a sac and could see a flicker of the heartbeat, but we couldn't count it.
I went in for another u/s the following week, and we were able to clearly see and hear the heartbeat.
So if your H only has so much time off, he could probably skip the first one. GL!
