I am really not sure what to do. I'm trying to pick between delivering at Good Sam or Hinsdale. I'm pregnant with twins and both have a level 3 NICU and they are both about the same distance from our house. Any opinions on these hospitals?
I can't compare the two for you, as I just moved here 3 months ago from DC. But my doc is at Good Sam and that is where I will be delivering in March. So far, I have been impressed with how easy the process has been. I preregistered tonight without any problems and I find the parking easy... Maybe that is simple to find everywhere but it wasn't at my DC hospital (that was highly ranked.)
I delivered my first child at Hinsdale and she was only 28 weeks. The NICU was amazing and the nurses and doctors made our 10 week stay very comfortable and they were quite understanding with all of our questions. We will be having our second child there and wouldn't think of anywhere else since it was our home for so long. Paperwork and ease of access to people on the phone or in person was also an important factor we found in choosing a good hospital.
I say Hinsdale I work for Adventis hospitals and know some of the girls there. They are all great!! There NICU is great!! Hopefully you will not need it!
I had my son 2 years ago at Hinsdale, and he was in the NICU for a bit over a week. Everyone at the hospital is wonderful! It's easy to get around for yourself, and friends and family (CDH is too crazy for me). We are expecting number 2, and even though we moved 45 minutes away, are still planning on delivering at Hinsdale. Good luck!
Hope this isn't too late. I had a choice between Edwards or Hinsdale with my OB and she told me that she had seen things happenen at Hinsdale that never should of happened. I didn't ask her for details that was enough for me to decide.

Delivered at Good Sam and LOVED LOVED IT! staff was amazing, nurses in the NICU were also amazing! i had a friend deliver at Hinsdale and liked it though to.
Would never deliver at Hinsdale. I've heard way too many horror stories. Just had my second daughter at Good Sam and it was an amazing experience, loved it more than my Prentice delivery.
