So I have to go to Orlando for a conference for a study I'm on @ work in mid March. I've never been to Disney (neither has DH) & although I'm not a huge amusement park person but everyone keeps telling me how Epcot would be right up my alley & I figure why not? The conference is Mon-Wed & I'm thinking of going down on the Friday before with DH for a mini vacation. We did this last year when I had a conference in DC & the year before when I had to go to Chicago.
So, this is where the IF-related stuff comes up:
If this IVF works I'll be ~ 10 weeks pregnant for this trip. Would it be worth my while to do Disney/Epcot seeing as I couldn't do rides? We got an e-mail today saying the travel agent will be contacting us to make flight arrangements next week & I'm trying to decide what to do.
If this IVF is a bust, then we're hoping to have frosties to do an FET. Based on what I've read I'd potentially be doing an FET towards the end of March, or the week after this conference. How much of a PITA is it going to be monitoring & meds wise if I was cycling for an FET @ Disney?
HALP!
Thanks.
Re: IF-related: Disney (no really, it is IF-related)
OMG! I'm going to Orlando/Disney in March too....if you know your dates PM them to me. If we will be there during the same time, would you like to try to meet???
I have been to Disney 3 times, each park has fast rides (more so then others) but each park has slow moving rides with Epcot having a few more that are also educational and then tons of walking at each park. I do love the World Showcase in Epcot! https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/
As far as a FET cycle with your trip, my RE does a CD3 u/s & b/w.....then about 2 weeks later another one, then the FET and then beta. FET cycles are SO much easier then an IVF!!!!

Ya'll are coming here!!!! :-) Yeeeaaahhhh!!! I have to agree! We have Epcot passes and we go just for dinner sometimes and ride one ride. But of all the parks I feel that they have the most low stressful rides (a MUST do is the Three Caballeros ride in Mexico). You can visit the countries and do the Showcase... I think it would be worth it!!!
I have been to Disney a couple of times and I agree with Bella - there are still lots of things to do at Disney, even if you aren't riding fast rides. Epcot is also so awesome for food!!! So many places to eat there that are yuuuuummy!!! Plus, the world side does have lots of interesting things to look at and there are shows too. The other parks have shows as well. Plus, even if you don't go to the parks everyday I am sure your hotel will have an awesome pool for relaxing. I say go for it!! (I don't know anything about cycling for a FET so others will have to advise you there).
ygpm!
You're due right around the time I'll be there!
I didn't know you lived in MCO. I'm jealous of all that warm weather you have down there!!!!
I agree, the 3 Caballeros boat ride in Mexico is a must too!!!

You would be fine to go. I was 8 weeks pregnant when we went and it's just fun to walk around. There were a few things that I still was able to do.
If you are just doing Epcot you will be just fine. You will miss a few rides, but I think the best part is seeing and walking through all the countries. You can still do the Mexico and Norway boat rides as well.
There are a few more you would be fine on as well. If you end up going I can email you more about the park. I have been a lot and worked/lived there for a year in college.
Epcot has lots of great shows and food!!

Not sure what to do now. Sad and lost.
I completely agree with this.
As many others have said, cycling to do a FET is much easier than the IVF itself. Maybe you can see if there is a local RE in the Orlando area that can do your monitoring off-site if necessary.

I don't do scary rides to begin with and I think Disney and Epcot are still tons of fun.
And Epcot is especially good if you are pregnant. There is a lot to see and do without fast rides.
I always wanted to go their Animal Kingdom. One day...
Have fun!!
I'm going in two weeks.. I'll be 14 weeks then.
I can't speak for cycling while you are there, but I can give you the pregnant lady review in 3 weeks.
4 Fresh IVF cycles + 1 FET where embies didn't survive the thaw = 2 perfect little men!
sFET 11/9/11 - Beta 11/18 BFP!
I've done this before, just a few months ago actually. The only rides at Epcot and Magic Kingdom that have warnings for pregnant ladies are (at Epcot) Body Wars, Mission Space, and Test Track, and (at Magic Kingdom) Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Tomorrowland Indy Speedway. That leaves the majority of both parks to ride and explore.
Soarin' at Epcot jostles you significantly less than driving in a car down the street, so ignore anyone who tells you to avoid it -- it is the best ride at Epcot and not to be missed. Have fun!
Really?!?! I might have to hold on and sneak away to Epcot to hang iwth you! LOL Not sure if the baby will agree though. LOL
MCO!!! Yep!!! LOL I used to live in NY not sure how far upstate you are. I miss the NY falls but I have to admit I don't miss the snow. LOL
