?s to ask MDO?

I'm starting to research MDO programs for DD next fall and I've got a couple tours to go on next week. Since it isn't as extensive as a daycare/preschool I don't have a billion questions but what are the "important" ones?

So far I'm thinking about:

- meals/snacks provided by home or center?

- potty training (assuming we don't get her trained before she starts)

- discipline...how do they handle it?

- naps?

Can anyone think of any glaring questions I'm not thinking of?

Re: ?s to ask MDO?

  • I'd ask about how sick days (if a home-based program...if the provider is sick) or holidays are handled (do you still have to pay).

  • Maybe the ratio of kids to teachers/helpers?

What sort of training do the teachers have?

  • I would ask about the level of parental involvement they are expecting.  I know with some MDOs, it's nothing and with some it's a lot.

  • I think everyone has had really good suggestions but I would also ask about their model. Is it play-based or more "school" like. I know that my kids are in an mdo that is more school centered and although I love it, I wish it had more child led, exploratory type of play.
  • Thanks, all. These are all great suggestions.

Shoo...  She was old enough this year and I was a lazyass and didn't get her registered in time.  But yeah.  :sob:
