I thought I would post about my repeat c-section to help others.
My first section was not expected. I labored for several hours and never progressed past about 6cm. I had a horrible anesthesia experience where I got sick and my blood pressure tanked. I was completely out of it and hardly even remember my baby being born.
This time, it was night and day! The anesthesiologist was ready with alternative solutions to help me NOT get sick.
I had mild nausea (and it was from nerves) and that's it. I felt much more alert and was able to enjoy my baby being born.
My recovery has been a breeze. I am two days PP and my incision doesn't hurt as bad, I am not needing all my pain pills and I was up and out of bed very soon after my surgery.
I feel soooo much better this time around.
Re: My repeat c/s experience
so happy you had a great experience. Congratulations!!
I will say that both of my sections were planned, but my repeat was so much easier and better than the first experience.
I don't come here much, but wanted to say thank you for this post! My first c/s wasn't planned and was very hard on me emotionally. I had no complications with it, and the recovery went really well physically, but just was in shock over having one.
So, I've been somewhat dreading a repeat c/s with this pregnancy, but reading your positive experience helps a lot, thank you!
Thank you SO much for posting this! My first labor sounds comparable to yours and I am a little nervous that my second will be the same, even though hopefully this one won't be an emergency like my first.
Thank you for posting this. Like PP, I had an unplanned c/s and was [still am?] an emotional wreck over it. It's still difficult for me to even talk about it. Wow.. even just typing that much has my nose feeling twitchy and my eyes a bit watery.
Anyhow, I'm so glad that you are healing and I hope that if my future vbac plans don't happen, I am able to be as happy and positive as you are right now.
My experience was a lot like OP's. My first labor was long (22 hours), I ran a mystery fever, there was meconium in my amniotic fluid, and my blood pressure shot way up and after more than 2 hours of pushing and realizing the baby was stuck I had an emergency C-Section. I was so out of it and my recovery was tough. That was almost 14 years before I had the second baby.
Second baby was a repeat c-section. DH was relieved I chose that route because my first labor was so bad and he did not want to go through that again either. We arrived at the hospital the day of the c-section - all was so calm - delivery was easy - I was comfortable and did not have much pain afterwards. I went home after 2 nights.
