taking bottles: how much/often of bm at babysitters & STTN(ish)

not sure if this is the right board or not

So this is my 4th day back to work and DS started sleeping 6-8 hrs at night about 10 days before that so we didn't have much time for me to figure out his eating habits and I want to obviously do what it takes to keep that going.    Background:  he was 8.5 weeks early so is 16.5weeks old (8 weeks adjusted) he's has gained 3+ lb / month since coming home so is eating very well

Trying to figure out how many bottle and how much in each bottle to send to the babysitters.  While I was at home we just nursed with the occasional bottle so I knew very approx how much he eats at one time.  We get up at 5:00 to start our day and I feed (nurse) him first thing, so I want the last feeding to be no later than 9:00ish so as not to hurt my supply (max of 8 hrs between over night feeding) he did the 9:00pm to 5:00am think for several nights.  the other nights he woke up at 3ish, 1 time i was able to give him the paci and he went back asleep until 5 but the others he didn't go back to sleep without being fed....He is at the sitter's from 6:15 - 4:15.

I know each baby is different but how much / often does your LO eat during the day, esp if they STTN?

Re: taking bottles: how much/often of bm at babysitters & STTN(ish)

  • My LO is 6 months old.  She takes one bottle at home from DH when she wakes up around 6 or 7, three bottles at daycare (she's there 8:30-3:30), and nurses 2-3 times once we are home (I get her at 3:30) and once at night.  So, total of 7-8 times per day.  Babies on average eat 25oz but the range is 20-30oz.  So per bottle, (25oz divided by # of feeding sessions in 24 hours) she gets 4oz.
