Prenatal yoga?

Has anyone done this? I might be interested in trying it. I could definitely use some kind of stretching, relaxation technique or class. I spend all day on my feet and am already starting to develop some sacroiliac joint pain. Does it matter if I have never done yoga before?

  • I love it! I think it's actually a great way to start if you've never done yoga before since it tends to be gentle and low-impact (at least in my experience)!

  • I have done yoga for a long time so I did prenatal yoga too. I loved it. I couldn't do much exercise so that was the most I could handle. I think you have to be really careful if you have never done yoga before, but you can still do it. Just let the teacher know you are new to yoga and don't push yourself too hard.

  • Are you looking at going to HM's by any chance (I think that's the only prenatal yoga near you so I assume so)??  I think you will LOVE it.  I had very very little yoga experience...it's totally designed for the beginner...or the experienced.  She will gear it towards whatever you are looking for, easily.  She is awesome.  And becoming a part of her classes really is becoming a part of the whole new-mama-to-be community...you will gain a lot of access to a lot of great information at the very local level.  From early pregnancy symptom sympathy to incredible nursing bra fittings and beyond...  All of her classes I've taken have been great.  Definitely recommend her yoga classes :)

  • I did prenatal yoga throughout my entire pregnancy, and I truly feel it was my favorite part of being pregnant.  It was a great way to stay flexible and felt amazing on the days when I felt like crap.  :)  I highly recommend it!
