Has anyone been to Sesame Place and can give a mini-review? I'm assuming it's geared toward toddlers and preschoolers. We're thinking of going this spring or early in the summer, before M turns 2 (i.e. before we have to pay for his ticket).
I was just telling DH that I want to take the kids this summer. It looks to be about a 3.5hr drive from our house. Sorry I don't have a review but great minds think alike!:)
I've never been but my SIL has (the one in NJ, right?) and she said it's a hole and told us not to waste our money. But I think it's been at least 5+ years since they went, so I supposed things could have improved?
I've heard really good things about it on the Bump, and we're trying to figure out if it would be good for the kids this summer (before they turn 2). In addition, my BFF, who has 8 year old twins, a 3 year old, and a 4 year old, LOVE Dutch Wonderland in PA and say it's the perfect size for young kids. They go every summer. So you might want to look into that as well. It's not near Sesame Place, but it is in Amish Country, so you could do some other stuff while you were there.
I went as a kid and loved it and my friends in Philly (it's just North of the city) take their kids (pre-school age) yearly. It's not nearly as nice as Disney or Busch Gardens, but they stick to theme, it's safe, and the rides are geared for the 10 and under set. Personally, I think it is really expensive. We almost took DD and DS this fall (but the kids got sick) and I was shocked at the ticket prices.
Dutch Wonderland was a hit with my nearly 2-year-old last summer and it's much cheaper than Sesame Place. I doubt she knew what she was "missing." The rides and shows are geared towards younger kids (I'd guess around 5/6-ish kids would think it's too young)
lol, sorry...it's like 3 miles from being in Jersey. DH has a ton of family up there that all live within 10 miles of each other and some are in PA (Philly area), some are in Jersey...it's all the same to me ;-)
Hi Ladies! I live near Sesame Place and haven't been yet, but I heard it was really gross. They had a bad outbreak of salmonella a while ago. We'll stick to dutch wonderland. I think they are both about the same distance from the DC area.

Thanks for the warnings about Sesame Place. It seems like such a good idea for little kids who love Sesame Street, so it's too bad it's not run very well.
We're going to give it a try in June, so I'll post my review (right before DD turns 2 for the same free admission). We're tying it in with a trip to the Children's Museum. I've read mixed reviews, but I know 3 families who have been in the past couple of years who all enjoyed it.
We went to Dutch Wonderland last year, and it was our first amusement park experience with the kids. It was fine, and I appreciated the reasonable cost, but I would have been disappointed if it had been our only reason for being in the area. We also went to see Thomas the train in Strasburg (the highlight of the trip for my then 2 year old DS, who still talks about it and wants to go back) and to enjoy Amish country for a long weekend. DH would prefer to do that trip again (sans Dutch Wonderland) this spring instead of Sesame Place, but I would like to change it up a little.
