Baby only interested in purees. :(

So DD has three small meals a day - all purees, cereals or yogurt. I've been trying to introduce finger foods or even chunkier purees and she absolutely hates it. She'll make a horrible face and spit it out. No go. She'll then refuse to eat anything after that attempt.

Today I tried giving her mashed potatoes and no go, either.

I'm taking it slow, letting her lead and trying not to stress, but am just hoping she'll take to it soon.

Anyone else out there going through the same? Sorry if this has been posted and discussed already.

Re: Baby only interested in purees. :(

  • She'll come around.  In the beginning, DD wanted only purees.  I would offer her soft foods or little bits of something we were eating to let her play with it and if it happened to land in her mouth, so be it.  Next thing I knew, she wants NOTHING to do with purees.

  • Andrew is still mostly on purees, too.  The biggest issue we have with other foods right now is he is still gagging and puking.  We did have a little success this weekend with broccoli so we might be making some progress, but for the most part he's eating pureed food.

  • How about rice mixed in soup...or oatmeal (i grind rolled oats, and we eat this together for breakfast).

Don't worry though as long as she's eating!
