We had our first son 7 weeks ago after narly 3 years of trying so when my 6 wk pp check came we had decided against birth control. I think the doctor thought I was crazy. In my mind chances are so low that we will get pg on our own and I've heard back to back babies are your best chance after infertility. We are not going to be trying but are open to the possibility of another lo.
Am I crazy? What did you ladiies do after #1?

Re: Birth Control??
We also did nothing - and got a BFP when she was 3.5 months old
eta: Although I should say - we wanted them close together even more than we cared to admit to ourselves, and had an appt with the RE to start treatment just a few weeks after I got my BFP. So, we were 100% good with the possibility of a "surprise" BFP, even though I was 100% confident that it wouldn't/ couldn't happen!
We didn't use anything either after DD1. See that pretty little girl beside the blonde one in my siggy? She's 13 months younger than DD1
.
I got pregnant on my 3rd cycle after having DD1. If you honestly aren't ready for the possibility of another LO soon, I would use some form of birth control.
We did nothing and had an unassisted pregnancy 10 months after #1.
I don't think you're crazy simply because you do acknowledge the fact that it COULD happen and that you're prepared and would welcome it.
It's the people that say "why bother with BC when there's such a small chance it could happen to us" that worry me a bit. Of course they end up loving their children when it does happen but that first shock is more than overwhelming. Heck... we were TRYING and I was totally overwhelmed.
You sound like you understand that the odds are low but that doesn't mean it's not possible.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
After two losses, third time was a charm.

I made the same decision because we has such low odds of getting pregnant on our own. Well...my daughters are a 1 year and 2 days apart.
I got pg on my own when DD #1 was only 3 months old.
As long as you are open to the possibility of having 2 LO's so close in age I don't see a problem with it. If you'd rather wait to have kids, I'd suggest looking into some form of BC.
