Still working...

This is my last week at work before finishing for maternity leave and boy is it dragging - Its only Tuesday but I am already fed up and ready to go. Ive managed to talk myself out of taking the rest of the week as vacation time but as I am not, and will be at work, people better watch out because I am not going to be fun to be around!

Who else is still working? Fed up?

Re: Still working...

  • I am!!! I have induction still scheduled for thursday night pending my dr and I'm still at work since the doc says just because I'm in pain and miserable isn't enough of a reason for bed rest. I had hoped I could simply start ML early but I got in contact with my HR and they said I can take vacation time now but its just vacation time. No FMLA. That will start when the baby is BORN (lame) and even then it will be 7 days (sick/vacation) I have to take before it will kick in. So I'm uncomfortable and at work until this kiddo comes out. My last appointment is tomorrow. I'm a bit worried since LO isn't moving as much but then I wonder if she's just out of room or I'm being paranoid. I'm terrified they're going to reschedule my induction, I'm not sure how much more I can deal with PLUS being at work these last few weeks has been rough, stupid comments galore, walking up / down all around, pelvic pain like someone beat me with a baseball bat on my vajayjay... yeah and then the hemis aren't helping having to sit at my desk. I need LO evicted and quickly!

  • You are right - Staying occupied helps but it still sucks! lol

I have a quilt at home I am in the progress of making - THAT is how I would like to be kept occupied!

  • Still at work, too. I see no reason to stay home- I'm still moving around easily, everything I need to finish at home is done, I can get more work done here, and it keeps me busy. Win-win-win-win... for now :)

Now, if I get uncomfortable, my butt will be parked on the couch until LO makes her arrival!

  • I'm only doing my TA job, so I'm able to do most of my grading at home, but I still have to go in at 8:30 every day to get the homework. Everytime the professor sees me he says " you're still here huh?" which would be annoying but he is a cute old man so it is endearing.

  • I wish I was still working! My due date was yesterday and I really thought he would be out by now, but alas he's comfy I guess.

  • Still working here too. I'm a high school teacher. Every morning I have at least 2-3 kids who will walk in and say, "Didn't you have the baby yet?!" It takes everything I have some mornings not to snark at them. Yes, I had the baby last night; but decided it was so much more important to be here this morning so I begged the hospital to let me leave and come back to work.

I had one coworker tell me this morning she is starting to get annoyed at still seeing me every morning. Really?! You're getting annoyed?! Well I'm sure your annoyance at seeing me is just so much greater than my annoyance at walking through the door every morning feeling like this watermelon-sized child is going to fall between my legs!

I guess I'm crabby today. Dr appt this afternoon...hoping to hear some good news about progression!!!

  • Today is my last day! Do I physically have a reason to not work - no. But I'd like to have a couple of days and my manager had no problem with it. Honestly, I'm not sure if the days between now and when this baby is born will be considered sick days or a personal leave of absence, but luckily I'm financially OK with it either way.

  • I'm still here!  Although, leaving a bit early most days.  I don't know what I'd do at home all day - but my due date is next Wednesday and I'm thinking that next Monday & Tuesday aren't looking too appealing to me!

I feel like I still a have a ton of small errands to run - we lost the battery charger to our camera, ordered one online and are still waiting for it to arrive - so today I've got to go out and get a backup.  I have a repair on my car that needs to happen - the seat belt buckle needs to be replaced so that's on the list today.  I also need to exchange my DH's diaper bag - so hoping to do that today.

Not to mention all the stuff around the house that DH hasn't done and that I will probably just do for him - small stuff, like putting things away and tidying up.

  • Yes I'm still working.  I was hoping that I would not have to come in today because LO would be here already but that is not the case.   So I am back at work today.  I will be working up until the day she comes so that I can have more time with her later.  It is difficult to get up and drag myself to work everyday with all my back/butt/and cervical pain.  But unless I just can not walk I will continue to come to work.   I do not have all the cleaning, cooking, and washing that I would like done at home but I really don't have the energy to complete it all either.  I will continue to do as much as I can until LO comes.

  • Same here. Working until LO decides it's time to make her grand entrance. Not fun. Between the lack of sleep and my "sunny" mood, I'm sure I'm a pleasure to be around.

  • I was working up until today, I had planned on working the rest of the week but with my failed trip to L&D last night DH is scared that I'll go into labor at work and he has strongly suggested that I stay home today and tomorrow. I have a Dr.'s appointment thursday and after that she will schedule an induction. I was getting fed up anyway, but I hate turning down money that could have been earned. I guess the house is just going to get even cleaner before baby comes!
  • still working as well..want to save my leave for PP and frankly might go nuts sitting at home waiting.  But I am really ready to be done waiting.  I've been here an hour and had to answer the "still here?' question about 8 times....I'm gonna start kidney punching people when they ask

I know right?! I am gonna start responding with "No, I am a figment of your imagination" and see what they say

Seriously people, your asking me the question so obviously yes, I am still here. You wouldnt be asking me otherwise would you?!

  • I'm still at work as well...planning on working until Friday and then going on leave, baby or no baby.  I figure I'll be 40 weeks and 2 days on Friday, I earned a few days off if I haven't had the baby by Monday, when I'll be 40 weeks and 5 days.  And more likely to bite someone's head off because I'm 5 days overdue.

I should also mention that I'm PHYSICALLY here, but mentally?  Not so much.  It's only 10:30 am and already I can't wait for the day to be over so I can go home, take a hot shower, and lie down lol.  I'm basically passing the time...

And I agree, the "you're still here?" comments are killing me.  So are the emails and facebook posts and texts I'm getting from friends and family asking if I've had the baby yet.  They'll know when I have the baby!  Good grief.

  • I can tell I work with a bunch of workaholics (I think most scientists are) since no one has said anything about me still being here. The most I've gotten is "tick tick tick" to time ticking down.

I am not even joking, the last woman to be pregnant in my lab had her water break while setting up an experiment.
