What is happening to me?!

I have been having BH contractions like crazy at night for the past few weeks.  My MFM said they sound normal, and my OB said "feel free to go into labor any time now, I wont stop you," then told me just to pay attention to if they are regular or if they stop.

Anyway, last night I was having contractions of some sort (very possibly BH) all night, and had to get up to pee about 8 times.  I have felt like I've had to pee even right after I just went all last night and all today.  All day today I've been getting painful BH, cramps that feel like I'm having a terrible period, and my lower back feels crampy- also like I'm having a period.  LO feels like she's trying to push her head out the front of my crotch- right around my public bone it hurts.  No discharge or spotting of any kind.

I called the OB and talked to a nurse earlier and she said to just wait until I see my MFM tomorrow unless I start bleeding or leaking fluid, but I'm going crazy!!  I am so tired of doubling over in the hallway because it hurts, and I feel like I'm going to pee all over myself every 10 minutes.

Is anyone else having a miserable time like this with me?

Re: What is happening to me?!

  • Is there anyone else you can call, or can you just go down to your L&D unit and get checked? If you are doubled over in pain, you should probably get checked IMO. I'm no doctor, but that doesn't seem like something to ignore especially if it isn't getting better.

  • I could go to L&D, but I'm half sure that they're going to tell me it's just normal BH contractions/ late pregnancy pains.

I feel like even when the contractions subside they don't really go totally away- my stomach has felt more hard than normal all day.

I'm not doubled over in pain all the time- just when I get a contraction. If I'm standing I feel like I have to bend over at the waist to keep it from hurting as bad and also to avoid peeing on myself.

Also (TMI) I almost feel like I have a UTI or something, or that I've had way too much sex lately- both of which are not true.  I haven't done it in a few weeks now, and I just had an appt with OB on friday, and my urine was clean.  But my vagina hurts- like it's burning up in there, almost like how it would feel if I had a UTI, but it doesn't burn when I pee or anything.

I'm confused.  I hate not knowing what's going on with my body.  I'm getting really frustrated because I feel like there is something wrong, but every time I've mentioned anything I'm worried about to one of my doctors it's always normal.  Like I can't figure out what my body is telling me anymore.

  • I'm sorry, I really wish I could be more help but I'm a FTM and really don't "get" labor. It seems like it is so different for everyone and one doctor will tell you something is normal when another will tell you to head straight in to be monitored. My doctor told me if my contractions start to hurt and are regular, I am to head right in because she would rather me be safe than deliver my baby on the side of the road. I am sorry I don't have better advice but I hope you figure out what is going on!

  • Don't be sorry!  I appreciate the feedback anyway :)  Thanks!

  • I hate when people ask me this, but are you drinking 8+ glasses of water? Lack of water can cause pretty much everything you're describing. I'm terrible about drinking enough water, but when I do it helps with the BH and uti symptoms. Hopefully your OB can ease your concerns with the pain today. Hang in there!

  • Sunday night/Monday morning I could feel LO pushing herself down CONSTANTLY - and now I keep feeling like I have to poop! I know it's not quite the same - but it could be similar. I know lots of #2's are a sign your body's preparing too - and tmi: I'm a one a day girl, and all yesterday - 3 times...so I'm not sure if it's a sign I'm getting closer (prob not with my luck haha!) I was not dilated at all on Thursday - so we'll see tomorrow if things are changing. I was also having "contractions" all day yesterday too - but nothing I found a pattern in. And at the same time, they weren't extremely painful. They WERE a lil more than uncomfortable though.

Your LO could just be pressing down on your bladder (mine has been doing that constantly for the past 2 weeks - every time I stand up and often while I'm laying down too). I'd just wait to see you MFM - unnless you start bleeding or you start getting unbearable pain, then maybe it's more closer than you think.

  • I have been having, what sounds like, the same pains. It has caused me to drop to the floor and curl into a ball a couple times, they have been coming and going since thursday. I called my doctor when I first started having them and they also told me to drink lots of water and lay on my side (it didn't help!) when I first started getting them on Thursday they were coming every 10-15 minutes but throughout the past few days they are infrequent but still hurt. I went to see my doctor yesterday and she again told me not to worry about then unless they start getting about 5 minutes apart, my water breaks, or I see any blood.this is my 4th baby and I have never had these pains before. I feel the same way, I just want to know what is going on with my body! Oh and then to top it all off yesterday I have been having sharp pains in my very lower back. This morning I ended up on the floor because of it. My doctor told me its just the way the baby is positioned and that she is moving lower. Oh and I also found out that I'm now dilated to about a 1.5 so who knows maybe my LO thinks she wants to try to come early. (I am due Feb 15th, but scheduled for a c-section on Feb 9th).. I hope you start feeling better, and that it helps knowing you are not alone in your pain. Good luck with your LO
