Trying to Get Pregnant

Ovulation questions...

I have pretty irregular periods, so tracking doesn't really help.
One thing I always have is that left side cramp about 1 week before I start my period.. I read somewhere that, that cramp is a sign that I'm ovulating. Does that mean that we should start trying as soon as I feel that?

Re: Ovulation questions...

  • 1.) Chart anyways. It's the only way to be sure of your cycles and be sure you're ovulating.

    2.) Read the newbie link.

3.) To answer your question, no. Unless you have an extremely short luteal phase, you probably aren't ovulating 7 days before your period.

  • Actually...it would really benefit you to chart your basal body temperature, so you can actually tell when you're ovulating.  It will help you tune into your body and learn your fertile signs.

  • I get left/right sided cramps before/during/after ovulation so I wouldn't use those as signs of ovulation.  I don't really see why charting wouldn't be beneficial to you; lots of ladies who are irregular on this board do it to help see ovulation.

  • Thank you. Yes, I have been on FertilityFriend and read the newbie link.. I was just wondering if that was just another way to tell...

  • I also am very irregular but charting is really helping me to pick up on signs that  I missed before.  I might not be able to project where my cycles will fall, but I can keep up with what they are doing as it happens. I second the recommendation for TCOYF.
