I currently have a K'tan that I used with DS, but I didn't like it when he got heavier, past a few months old. Would the mei-tai be a good option? Does anyone have the mei-tai style infantino? I'm not wanting to spend a ton of money on a carrier. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not a big fan of structured carriers, but that might be because I've never found one that fit me well. I'm on the short and round side.....
TIA
Re: Question about Infantino Mei-tai
I have and like the Infantino Wrap and Tie. Yes, Infantino is an evil company that doesn't care about babies... but I got my carrier by finding a bag sling o' death (the Infantino Slingrider) in a consignment store for cheap and doing the recall trade in. If you're considering getting a Wrap and Tie, do a search on your local CL and see if you can find a Slingrider to send back to them. It's really easy, and you also get a free toy.
All of that said, the Wrap and Tie has worked great for me. It's a good product at a lower price point than most mei tais.

Yeesh. Apparently I've been out ouf the loop. I had to google Infantino to find out what you were talking about. I had one of those slings with DD years ago (She's 6). I used it all of once and tossed it. It just didn't feel secure to me and she scooted down in it too much.
Maybe I'll look elsewhere.
Thanks!
You could look at used ones on diaperswappers.com and other websites.
Really, though, that actual product is pretty good. It just depends on how you feel about supporting Infantino.

There have been a few de-constructed on another site, and they found that while it wasn't horribly made, there are better ones out there.
You don't have to spend a lot, but it's probably worth spending a little more to get something that works well, and is comfortable for you.
This site has a lot of good advice about carriers:

Good luck!
Thank you! I stumbled on thebabywearer.com when I was looking up mei-tais. I'm really looking hard at the mei-tai by babyhawk and also the woven wraps too. I know they both have a learning curve, and I want to make a good choice, as I hate to waste money. Lol.....
PP you are right, of course I should and will spend a bit more for my baby's safety and my comfort. Whats the point of buying something I can't use? LOL
Thanks for the advice!......
slowly fades back to lurking!
Don't lurk too much!! There are some really knowledgeable mamas on both sites, and are very willing to share information, but if you don't ask, you'll never know!
Wraps do have a learning curve, but it's really not bad, and you can get a reasonable started wrap for around $50-70. And there are plenty to choose from!
lol... Thanks glasgow_girl!
Looking at the woven wraps makes me really want one. They are beautiful. I already have a K'tan, so I don't want to buy a stretchy... but the woven ones are so much more expensive... I have a hard time justifying that much $$. But since we've bought so little for this one, (we've gone the minimalist route this time) maybe I can convince DH it's a must have....lol.
I just want to say, I've enjoyed all the posts on this board, informative yet drama free. Wonderful!

There are a couple that aren't too expensive - you also might be able to look for seconds that have a small flaw (not a safety issue - just cosmetic). The good thing about wovens is that they do keep a lot of their value, so when you go to sell them, you aren't losing a ton of money.
It is a little more of a commitment, but you can use a woven wrap from birth until you are ready to stop babywearing!
