My son's being going through this rough patch as well right now and it was almost relieving to read that post because I thought it was just him. Although he can talk and reason if I hear NO one more time I think I'm going to lose it. Time outs work at home but I've been too ashamed to do it in public. DS's biggest problem right now is running away from me. "Let's go potty, let's eat dinner, ..." and he's off, everything is a game and sometimes I don't have time for that. Not to mention I can never put him down to walk when we're out. I hope this is just a phase.
FWIW, four has been my favorite age for all of them. Right now my youngest niece and nephew are four (twins) and I love this age! After that they're 6, 6, 7, 8,10 and 12.
Yeah, I kept trying to warn people about 3 year olds. And what's that saying, something about those who say two's are terrible don't have a three year old. The good news is that it doesn't always last a whole year. It was for about 6-9 months and then DS calmed down a lot. I will add that I don't think girls always get better. There is just more drama with girls. DD use to cry if her cup was the wrong color.
I know. And I'm usually pretty realistic about these kinds of things. It's just on days like today when my 2-year-old is already wearing me down, I can't even begin to fathom it getting worse.

Well, maybe it won't. I have one friend who swears her girl was way worst at 2. Her theory is that girls mature faster than boys, so her daughter hit the terrible earlier.

sorry you're having a rough go, though. poopysuckyAnderson.
Ppppffffftttttt. 3 ain't got nothin on 14. Puh-lease. Having a 3 year old and a 14 year old at the same time, 3 is all puppies and rainbow on the worst day compared to the best day at 14. Enjoy your toddlers before it gets ugly people.

Sorry to say 3-3.5 was by far THE WORST with Abby. We had it fairly easy in her 2s though. 4s were also much worse than 2s, but slightly better than 3s. And then 5 plus has been easier, but I agree with Nessia, I think girls are typically drama, drama, drama. I swear sometimes A acts like she is 6 going on 16. Except thank god we're not dealing with boy drama yet! That is when I plug my ears and repeat "not my girl, not my girl."

lol - I wonder about this sometimes. Is Layna really as awesome and easy as I think she is? Or is that just compared to a 9 yr old?

yes people have told me this when i have complained about my so far pull-your-hair-out-crazy two experiences of boys at 3.5. i've heard the hormone surges are similar during toddlerhood and teenage hood. and as my grandmother used to say 'little kids, little problems. big kids, big problems.' I am soooo afraid. !!!!!!

I agree w/ Rosie - the communication is really a big help. But if you have a high-dollar litigator in training, that can bite you too. I swear, sometimes DD makes some pretty compelling arguments for her stances. Sheesh.
Re: holyfuck.
yep.
I guess I better not read this post.
If I thought I hated 2-year-olds, seeing my niece in action makes me hate 3- and 4-year-olds too. They're wretched, wretched beings!
Yeah, that's what both of my sisters said, too.

It's better that you know. Not that you'll believe it. I was all "la, la, la, not my boy, just other boys!" and then BAM ... 3.25 hit.
Stock up on wine now.
