Hi Ladies --
I don't drink a lot of caffeine. I have a cup of coffee in the morning and then usually a diet soda in the evening with dinner. Other than that, I'm drinking water (or crystal light). Should you not be having any caffeine while ttc? or if the little amount I'm drinking ok?
Just wondering what everyone's opinions are!

Re: What's your feeling on caffeine while ttc?
IMO caffeine in moderation is fine. I don't normally drink caffeine at all, but if I get one of my horrible headaches I find that a cup of regular coffee can help a lot. As long as you aren't drinking 3 quad lattes a day I don't see a problem with it.
But of course, I'm not a doctor so if you are concerned, call your doc and ask.
I drink a cup of coffee every day. And did the same when I was pregnant too. It's fine & safe. There's a certain amount that is considered safe, and that's about 2 sodas or 1 cup coffee/1 shot of espresso a day.

When I was pregnant with DD I had a huge caffeine withdrawl headache. This was early on like 6 or so weeks. The doc said that 12 oz of caffeine a day was ok to have. I don't drink nearly as much as I used to.
I have been drinking huge amounts of water this cycle just to help with CM. I would think that the amount of intake you say you have is fine for TTC.

My OB just told me she advises patients 8 oz of coffee a day max (even when pregnant) when they are pregnant. I don't drink soda with any regularity, so I'm not sure what the amount in soda is.
As far as TTC, I'm kind of a drink till it's pink gal... But I really only drink about 16 oz of coffee a day anyway.

Wow, I just checked my diet coke can and it has 46 mg of caffeine in it. I could pretty much drink 4 cans each day and be under that. Good thing I don't drink that much! I'm all about my sugar-free koolaid.
Mine too. I'm a tea drinker so she said two cups a day is fine. I think 200 mg is about one cup of coffee?

This. And I believe that is what March of Dimes recs. If you look at lables, 200mg is actually quite a bit!
I was actually wondering the same thing and did some research yesterday, and according to different studies as long as you stay under 200mg of caffeine a day it should not impact fertility. However drinkng more the 300mg of caffeine a day can decrease fertility by as much as 27%! Hope this helped Here is a link that I read regarding it.

I am a diet pepsi addict and have upwards of 4 cans/day. I had TTTC my son, but that was due to PCOS. Once my cycles were regular (with the help of metformin), I got pg, so I really don't think having that much caffeine had any impact on my fertility.
I cut back once I got pg, but still had 200 mg of caffeine daily.
I am a coffee drinker, and quit cold turkey when TTC #1 (and again now for #2).
My OB told me that a cup or two a day was fine, but I was still not ok with it.
Just personal preference. If there are some studies that link caffeine consumption to miscarriage (especially in the 1st tri), I'm just not willing to take any risk, no matter how small.
