1st Trimester

My sypmptoms have quit and I'm getting nervous

I am 9 1/2 weeks right now. I have had extreme nausea for 3-4 solid weeks. Have been very finicky about eating. I'm very tired and go to bed by 8pm. My belly would get bloated and I would have some lower abdominal cramping and could not lay on my belly. This lasted up until about a week ago and all of a sudden they stopped. I expected this to happen in the second trimester but I am 3 1/2 wees away from that. I am still a bit tired but not to the extent I was before and I have been getting headaches more frequently and I do have some breast tenderness. Currently, that is about all I am experiencing. I did have my first US last Thursday and all was well and we saw the heartbeat. Am I crazy now for getting worried?

  • Of course you aren't crazy for being worried...I know I worry about everything! That's what moms do! If you are really worried...contact your midwife, but I would say that having some symptoms ease up is a blessing..you still have some breast tenderness and the headaches that indicate your hormones are still elevated...so, unless you have bleeding, etc...don't worry so much!

  • Be thankful the symptoms subsided.  Some days you have crazy symptoms, some days you have none.  Enjoy the days you have none :)

  • Not crazy at all! And you sound just like me! My 1st tri I was sick as a dog,and in bed by 8 pm every night. All my symptoms except constipation and bloating were gone by 10 weeks. I all of a sudden didn't feel pregnant anymore, but soon realized I was just really lucky! Some women have all that the whole time. I did feel better when we heard the heartbeat at an 11 week apt, and at the ultrasound i had this past week seeing the baby doing gymnastics in there made me feel better too (since I really have no symptoms at this point other than the 2 I mentioned) Just enjoy the lack of crappy symptoms, and you can always call your doctor to ease your mind!

  • Thanks everyone! This really helps. I didn't mention before but I did miscarry once already and I guess that helps make my worries worse. But I am already past the point I was when I miscarried before and I did see that little heartbeat. Now I will be anxious for my next appointment in February!
  • I would love not to feel sick and crappy all day long... Please send it my way.

  • Definitely contact your provider if you are worried, but once you see the heartbeat your chance of miscarriage drops to 5%. I think you should focus on the great aspect of feeling better!

  • Don't worry.  I'm 11w2d today and just returned from my OB appointment.  My doctor said most of her patients start feeling better at 10-12 weeks.  My morning sickness ramped up at the beginning of last week to the point that I wasn't keeping anything down.  By the end of the week, I didn't have nausea anymore.  My OB was able to find a strong heartbeat with the doppler today, so everything is fine.  (I also had an ultrasound on Friday that showed everything is great.)
