recently, we had friends watch the boys while we went to a Spurs game. They told us that the boys didn't like being in bed while they read the bedtime story and that they hoped it was ok if the boys were on the floor instead. My MIL and SIL also apparently put the boys in bed and then read the story.
We always read books on the floor while we change them into jammies and then they get into bed. Am I the only one who thinks it's weird to read to a kid who is in his bed? I mean, how do they see the pictures?
Re: Books before bed-is the kid in bed or out of it?
Layna and I read stories in her bed. We lay next to each other, propped up by pillows. The kid sleeps with three of them so we can sit up easily.
And its a twin bed

lol - oh, right. Back then we would lay down on the floor, on our stomachs with the books in front of us.
I think there were a few times that she would be in bed. I would sit on the side, leaning back and holding the book up for her to see. But that wasn't comfortable for me so usually we were on the floor.
I sit on the floor next to DD's toddler bed. She is laying on her pillow and I sit so I'm almost even with her head and hold the book out for us to both see. It's definitely not ideal - especially being 9 months pregnant right now - but once she's in a twin I'll definitely sit in bed with her and read.
We did the glider for a long time too - but had to switch that up in the past 9 months or so for an easier transition to the new baby's room.

Ditto. When DD moves out of her crib (when she's 16) to a bigger bed, we'll probably do story time in bed.
