Breeched Baby!!!!!

My friend is also pregnant she is now 37 weeks and we were reading different things on how to make the baby turn, do anyone have any suggestions for her?

Re: Breeched Baby!!!!!

  • I just found out mine was too this past dr's appointment.  I am 38 weeks and the likelihood is very low, less than 15% chance, that he will turn.  I am scheduled for a csection a week from tomorrow!

  • Your OB can do a version to try and get it to turn.

Success of a version depends on a lot of factors-amount of amniotic fluid, size of the baby, breech position.  Something to consider though if all the factors are favorable.

  • My little guy was breech, we found out at 36 weeks. I tried spinningbabies and an external version and both were a no go. After my c-section they said he was very content with were he was and had kind of jammed himself in there. If I had more time, I probably would have tried acupuncture, but there was really no way he was going anywhere.

This sounds like me... I think she just likes being head up. She's been transverse or head up the entire pregnancy. my doc is supposed to try a version in a couple of weeks. If it does not work it's c/s for us.

  • See a chiropractor, acupuncture, https://spinningbabies.com/, and get a version.

Personally, I would never have a version done with an OB (planning one with a MW myself- totally different experience), but if you do make sure they are experienced.

I have been trying the first three things since 33 weeks and my baby is still breech.  Sometimes there is a reason they do not flip, but I will be giving her at least until 40 weeks to do it.  There is no reason to section someone before then IMO.

We did it all for six weeks before she flipped, Pink. She still won't engage. My little stubborn baby. Hang in there. I know how nerve racking it is...

My SIL was breech with my niece.  Her doctor turned her and everything turned out just fine.  She went into labor 2 days later with her.

If she is not able to get her babe to turn, here is a good blog post on her options with a breech baby.  HTH's  :)

Why is having a MW do it different than an OB?

In general, the version with a MW is just more gentle.  With a MW you don't need an epidural or have to be in the hospital just in case you go into labor.

I am not saying OBs are evil or doing it wrong...it is all about training and generally OBs and MW are just trained differently.   It is just not something I would do.  Everyone has to make that decision for themselves.
