DD turns 3 on Monday. I had bought her a Plan dollhouse at a great price on Black Friday and since we were done with her Christmas shopping decided it would be her birthday gift from us. MIL, although she knew we had already bought the doll house, gave her a mini folding doll house set for Christmas. I feel like it stole some of the thunder from our gift (typical MIL). DD also received a crazy amount of toys from family members and we are still sorting through the overload and collecting old toys to donate.
I'm trying to decide if I should just hold back the doll house until next year and give her a chance to digest Christmas. I don't know if at 4 she would be as interested as she is now in the doll house? On the other hand it would be nice for her to be able to set it up in the living room and play with it for several months before #2 arrives and is mobile at which point the doll house will have to go into her room to keep the small parts out of reach.
Re: Save the doll house I bought for DD's BDay for next year?
DD -- 5YO
DS -- 3YO
I would be so mad at MIL.
This is one of the hard things about having birthday and Christmas so close together. I think I would save it for Christmas since she already has one. She may play with the one you got her a little bit better when she's older.
We gave the girls a dollhouse this year for xmas, and dd1 loves it and is four. She clearly plays with it much more than her little sister.
I don't think it matters either way. My girls have 6 yes 6 tea sets. One is a tub tea set, on is for the kitchen, on for the play room the china one is for when we have tea parties. Yes, I have created tea sets for certain areas of the house but they use them all.
If it were me, I would wait till next year
