Jude as a girls name?

We are naming our b/b twins Jude and Rhys...I had 3 people tell me that they hope people don't make fun of him because Jude is a girls name. Aside from the fact that I think they are rude, am I missing something? To me, Jude is a biblical name, Judy is a girls name. I assumed people may think Rhys was feminine since it's so unisex (which I typically hate) but Jude?

Haha...my grandmother is one (she also claimes to be very religious so I find it interesting that she's never heard of St. Jude or read a freaking bible obviously). But she also responded to Rhys with "oh, I love peanut butter cups"

I love that name on a boy.

Whoever told you that is crazy. Whoever named their GIRL Jude be crazy as well.

This post now has me p*ssed that one of the last great boy names as now gone the way of girls too.

I love Jude and always thought of it as a boy name. Then I suggested it to DH and he said he has an Aunt Jude. I really hope it's a NN. I think Jude is 100% boy.

FWIW, it's a boy name in the Beatles song ("You were made to go out and get her).

St. Jude is the saint of hopeless cases and very much a boy's name. I had a student once named Djoude pronounced "Jude" who was a girl. I thought it was odd until I learned she was adopted from Haiti and it was the name she came with.

I think Jude is a boys name. However there is a woman at my church named Jude, which struck me as odd. She's in her 40s.

If I had a friend named Judy I could see calling her Jude (like I call my friend Julia, Jules). But the name itself is most definitely 100% male.

Jude can be used for male and females.

Jude Devorax, the romance novelist is a female and Martha Stewart's Daughter just named her own daughter Jude.

If I hear the name however, I do think masculine first.

Rhys is boy. Period.

My son's name is Jude, and I never heard anything about mistaking it for a girl's name until this post. We love his name and think it is perfect for him!!!

To me, Jude is 100% boy, however, I've noticed it has come up lately as a unisex name. I woudn't worry about this though - it would be few and far between.
