IVF trigger tonight!!!!

So tonight I'm triggering for my first IVF cycle and ER will be on Tuesday.  Is it weird that I'm more nervous about the trigger shot tonight than the ER on Tuesday?  Honestly I don't know if that's true exactly b/c I'm sure come Tuesday I'll be nervous about the ER too, but the trigger is happening in about 2 hrs.

For ladies who've had the IVF intra-muscular trigger, is it painful? I was told I could ice the area for up to 5 mins beforehand.  Has anyone tried that?  Was it helpful?   Any other advice on how you did it?

    Good luck! I've tried icing the area it seems to help.

    I haven't done an IVF IM shot, but I've done the HCG IM ones before (don't know if that's the same thing or not). DH did it and it wasn't too bad. He did the shot in my butt cheek. Best advice? Have him do it quickly so you don't have too much time to freak out about it. And from my experience, my @ss hurt more afterward than it did during the shot.

    My trigger shot actually hurt a lot less than my sub-Q Menopur shots (which burned like crazy going in).  I didn't ice, and it was no big deal at all!  Just a little pinch really, and no soreness afterwards.

    GL!  And kick butt at your ER on Tuesday!

    Severe MFI. Me: supposedly all clear but eggs showed vacuoles.

    IVF #1 January 2012, ER Jan 14th: 34R, 27M, 23F. Day 3: 18 embies still strong. Day 5: zero "good," one "fair," the rest "poor." Transferred 3. None made it to blast or to freeze. Jan 28: BFN.

    Lucky IVF #2: Transferred two beautiful day three embies on St. Patrick's Day. BFP on HPT 7dp3dt. Beta 1 (14dpER)=106; Beta 2 (16dpER)=140; Beta 3 (19dpER)=264! First u/s 4.17.

    Ok, that's good to know!  I thought the Menopur burned also and the syringes that they provided took awhile to inject all the medication.  Hopefully the trigger isn't like that too.

    I didn't ice before the trigger and I honestly didn't feel a thing. I was afraid of how bad the needle would hurt going in based on the size of it, but I didn't even know DH had stuck me. My advice is to just try and relax because it will be over with before you know it. Good luck at ER on Tuesday!

    I also want to point out that the ER is going to be tougher for the person that goes with you. I was in the room with my wife and I ended up on the floor! 

    I sat down though, but needed the coolness and my feet up!

    All done!  You ladies and gentleman were right, it wasn't as bad as I was thinking.  DH was so nervous about giving me the shot but he did great!

    totally not painful... just a little scary... I didn't ice and it was fine.  Lucky me I have a friend who is a neo-natal nurse (has to give newborns shots all the time) and she gave me my trigger
