When we bought our tiny house when I was 18, I never dreamed we'd be stuck in it this long...I had planned to move the new baby into DS's room, but I just feel guilty about that- I'd have to take out DS's train table and lots of toys out and there just isn't enough room in there...so now I've decided I'm just going to keep baby in my room and let DS keep his own room- baby will be sleeping next to us for the 1st few months anyway...But I feel so bad about not having a special place for this baby like I did for #1...And it's kind of snowballing-why buy a $200 bedding set thats mostly for decoration, we won't be using any of it anyway, why start buying lots of stuff without having somewhere to put it? anyone else bedding with baby? any suggestions on how to make a special space for baby without an actual space?
Re: No nursery...anyone else? *whine*
I personally would save the money and not buy a new bedding set. I sometimes feel badly that this baby isn't getting any of the "new" stuff and has to use all of DD#1's things, but it isn't worth the $ to me to buy everything all over again. We even bought our oldest daughter a new bedroom set with new bedding and she will be getting a newly remodeled bedroom.
If you are having the baby stay in your room, maybe you could add some special decorations on the wall above the baby's crib and buy some sheets that match your bedroom.
We didn't really do anything for either girls - no nursery was created. DD2 just used everything DD1 did. And she still does. DH bought DD1 a bedding set and we only used the sheet out of it, so it was a total waste. Fortunately we were able to sell it, but still.
This time around, we don't have the space for a nursery for the boys and we're PCSing out of state in June, so it doesn't make sense for us to do one. We've really gone minimalist with the boys - clothes, diapers, crib, car seats and that's it. Everything else is just going to have to wait until after we move. FWIW, I think that we'd be doing the same thing even if we weren't moving.
We are in the same boat. We have a two bedroom house so I plan to keep the baby in the room with us for at least the first few months. We will then move the DS#2 into DS#1 room once he is sleeping through the night. We aren't buying anything for the baby and I'm hoping to not have to buy a new crib. We will see if DS#1 is ready to transition into a big boy bed when we are ready to move DS#2.
I don't feel bad for the baby but I would love to be able to set up and decorate for this baby. I know he won't remember, but I will. So I can definitely relate to how you are feeling.
