I'd felt funky for a couple weeks, and had no idea I was pregnant. I posted on facebook that I was going to the doctor's, and my sister commented "I hope its because of my nephew!". She had been saying things like this to me for months.
So after I found out I called my mom and told her, and she called my sister. We also told my FIL that day. I had some more running around to do after my appointment, and by the time I got home my sister had posted on my wall, "I so called it" and mom had posted "So glad you went I can't wait to be a Mimi". They had both made there own post about it so I just went with the flow. I wasn't mad and didn't even think that maybe I should wait.
We were going to tell at 8 weeks because it was christmas, then I had the first SCH scare and we decided to wait. We decided after first tri we would tell, since then I have had two more major bleeding episodes so we might wait until 16 weeks to tell.
I told shortly before I hit 2nd tri (about one week before). We went public after we'd personally told our families and close friends, which mostly occurred at Christmas.

I told at 9 weeks, around Thanksgiving. Pretty much everyone knew by then anyway.
I didn't mind telling early. I teach at an elementary school (almost all women) and we've had several teachers experience pregnancy losses, including one who lost 2nd tri twins. I work with an amazingly supportive staff and knew that if anything happened, they would take care of everything at work for me, send meals, check on me to give me breaks when I came back, etc. I was glad I told them early. I've been there for years plus my mom teaches at the same campus so everyone is crazy excited
Mine was actually a combination of 2 of the options. I told once I hit 2nd tri (well, 13w4d- after my 2nd appt when I heard the heartbeat for the 2nd time) and just after I told work.

We'll tell FB after the 18-20 week scan when we find out the gender and hopefully have some great u/s pics (the only other nod we have is from 8 weeks) and our little bean looks like a teddy bear :-)
Re: Clicky poll - when did/will you tell facebook?
In another week or two when it's obvious when you see me I'm planning on posting something.
BFP on 11/3/11 - EDD 07/6/12 - DD born 6/27/12 via c-section

Me too! Was waiting for the second trimester originally, but DH and I couldn't hold it in any longer!
