We just installed ours and LO was ok in it yesterday. She always cries in the initial phase of any car ride and I'm wondering if there is anything canopy like out there for the sun. She is 10 months old and rear facing. What do you all do about that?
Also.. it says on the base that rear facing is only up to 20lb or 1 year??? I thought we were supposed to keep them rear facing until age 2. My LO is under 18lb still but I felt that was a weird wording on the base cause I know that many babies under 1 yr are weighing over 20lb. Did I misread that? I need to check it out again.

I just did a quick google search...and found this. I think we have the marathon, but we might have the bulavard (sp?). We're using it rear facing, and did until ds was like 30 months and 28 lbs. Maybe you're reading it wrong? Or maybe the recommendations are what are printed (like ALWAYS put your baby rear facing until this point??) I'd double check the manual that came with it, but I'm pretty sure that it can be used much longer than 20 lbs rf.
Its worded weird. I think it is like that on a lot of seats, and it seems common for people to misunderstand it. It just means that your child HAS to be rear-facing at least until that point.
I don't know what to tell you about the sun, we had one of those stick on window clings that seemed to help. We were just going to tint the windows, but we ended up getting an SUV for me to drive, so we don't have that issue anymore.
We have the same seat. Yes, I think you definitely misread it. Like pp stated, you shouldn't put a LO in that seat until 20 lbs. or 1 year (whichever comes first).
Also, we use one of those pull down shades on the window. You can get them at walmart for around $5(I think) for 2.
FWIW, this isn't correct. A child cannot be forward facing in that seat until they reach 1 year AND 20lbs. Not which ever comes first.
this! My DD has been over 20lbs for months. I don't plan on switching her to FF for at least another 6 months. They are way safer RF.
ok great. Thanks for all the responses guys. I figured I misread it. As far as the sun we are going to try that pull down shade business.
Thanks again!
How embarrassing. that's not what I meant at all. I wasn't talking about forward facing at all. I was talking about putting the child in that seat rear facing and that in that case they need to be at least 20 lbs. Like, they can't even use the seat until they are 20 lbs and I figured that it was obvious they would have to be rear facing. I suppose I did word that strangely. Sorry.
ETA: I just went to the website and realized it starts at 5 pounds. Man I'm stupid today. Pay no attention to anything I have previously said. Just FTR: I do have DS rearfacing in that seat. lol.
