Hi, All,
Liam's 9 month appointment was today, and Jared just texted me all about it. He's 17 1/2 lbs and 28 1/2 inches. Since our house is older, they had to do a blood test for lead. Did anyone else do the blood test for lead? How long did it take to the get results?
TIA! ~Shaindel

Re: Another long, skinny baby! (and blood test for lead?)
They do the lead here. #2 hasn't gone for his 9mo, but with #1 we would only have heard if he had elevated levels. Did you have a choice? It's mandatory here, but there are so many pre-war buildings, especially in my neighborhood, we'd have done it anyway.
We are going on Monday for this 9 mo. I expect he'll be around 25lbs.
We had Jacks appt on Monday. He was 29.5 inches and 22 lbs. His giant head is still in the 90th percentile but he seems to be slowing down on everything else.
They did the lead test and anemia and they called me the next day with the results, (neg)
The pedi also feels that he is fine in motor skills but behind in intentional verbal communication. So we are seeing an Early Childhood Intervention Specialist.
I am not worried. Everything that I have read says if he is behind it is only slightly but I have used it to make some changes in our house.
We are not turning the TV on until after he is in bed anymore. Just music and DH has to read to him as well. Kyle hates reading, So I think that this is good. and Kyle agrees with me. I didn't just lay down the law, we discussed it. It has resulted in more enjoyable evenings. Instead of just me sitting on the floor playing with Jack, Kyle is more engaged.
Sorry to hijack!! ooops
DS is 17 pounds and 29 inches! Small and long ;0)
I have to take him in for lead testing too and we live in a brand new house. I thought it was weird we have to do that.

Thanks, Everyone! I guess my pediatrician is "gone"??? She's doing a residency in pediatric neurology, so for the time being, a licensed nurse practitioner is seeing all of the patients, so I just called and they said they would call either way. I guess everyone was confused about if the policy is to call if it's bad news only or what...
No wonder Jared was confused...

My DD just had her 9-Month appointment, she was 21lbs 13oz and 29.5inches long.
Her pedi said that she'd send her for bloodwork on her 1 year appointment. (For lead and anemia)
The first time my friend's 7-year-old son met Liam, Liam was about 6 months old and had FAT baby thighs. The first thing her son said was, "He has thighs like Grandma Rosie!"
My friend's mom is a *rotund* woman. We were SO glad "Grandma Rosie" wasn't around to hear that.
