Re: Snow!

  • I mean snow is fun.  But I have a toddler in daycare, and our daycare has a tendency to shut down if there is snow or if it is difficult for workers to get to work.  Luckily, they were already closed on Monday due to the holiday, and my husband was staying home because his work was closed.

Hopefully, the snow will be light.  Snow on Queen Anne on the hill is not fun, and it is easy to slip--which for me, would not be a good thing at this point--easier to fall when I am not pregnant.

  • I can imagine at that stage of pregnancy that the cooler temps feels pretty good. For my December baby I was petrified of the snow falling. I didn't want to go into labor and have the mess and traffic to get to the hospital. Fortunately in 09, it wasn't an issue.

  • Me! I absolutely love snow! It's been snowing all day here and sticking since this afternoon. Hubs had to drive somewhere tonight and said 405 was mostly bare, so that's good. The baby and I took a walk in the snow and, luckily, don't have to go anywhere.

  • I would love to see snow!

This is our first winter in Seattle. At home, we'd have feet and feet of snow by November, so it's crazy that it's January and there's no snow. I know it won't last, but it would be nice for as long as it does.

Both of my babies were born in snowstorms - with our first, there was no snow when we went into the hospital and a few feet when we came out!

But you know what would be really exciting for us (I know this is silly to most people)? A snow day. In 30 years, though snow storms with zero visibility, feet and feet of snow dumping in a matter or hours, -50 temps...I remember one single snow HALF day and they only called it because the buses physically couldn't get to the schools. We walked home that day - my dad had to pick me up and carry me home because the snow was over my head! :) So, a snow day would be really novel for us!

  • I love snow, especially on a Sunday where I don't have anywhere to be! It's so pretty to watch it falling and makes inside feel so cozy. I hope you all stay safe, warm, and can enjoy the white stuff.
  • I live in Eastern WA now, grew up over there near Seattle.  I was told I would hate living here because it snows so much.  We haven't had any snow this year, and while it's snowing there it's sunny here! We do have snow in the forecast for the next 10 days which is the first time all year. I love watching all my friends and family posting about snow, with pictures it makes me giggle.

  • I'm also a California native so snow is still exciting to me! :) I wasnt too happy driving on the ice last night but don't have too much to do today so I was thrilled that Tacoma got included in the snow!! I can imagine Queen Anne would be a mess, I went to Seattle University on Capitol Hill and it was scary when the weather got like this! Hope everyone stays safe!

  • LOVING the snow today...pretty sure I'm calling into work tomorrow! ;)
  • I've been loving the snow - there were super huge snowflakes for awhile! The drive down to Seattle SRM for my IUI was super slow however. Thank goodness we have Subarus!

  • As long as we are all home safe and the fridge is stocked I enjoy 2-3 days of snow. We live on top of a hill so when there is snow and/or ice we are stuck (no 4 wheel drive) After 3 days I get a little bored..I guess I need to take up knitting or something :)

Being our first winter here, we just didn't know what to expect or how to know when to call a snow day for ourselves or anything...so my husband went to work....wait...okay, never mind!

Decision made. He slid down the driveway and almost took out the mailbox!

And where we moved from, we would have had feet of snow for months at this point. We've driven in CRAZY snow our whole lives and combined, can remember one snow HALF day. But we've never done it on a mountain.
