Boppy Lounger - must or bust?

My SIL swears that the Boppy Newborn Lounger is the one item she couldn't do without right now, but I've heard conflicting reports from others. Though it's nice when they're small, don't they outgrow it quickly? Anyone have thoughts on this?

Re: Boppy Lounger - must or bust?

  • I say bust.  There's not much you can do with the newborn lounger and it's useful life is pretty short.  It's even more unnecessary if you already have a swing and/or bouncer.

  • It was a must for us. DS slept in it quite a bit during the day, or just lounged in it while I was doing things. The bouncer we had was too upright and he kept falling forward.

  • IMO I say skip it. We have a regular boppy and get so much use of it, the lounger wont last nearly as long. My friend has a 17 month old and she still uses it!!!!!

  • For us it's a must. It is literally the only thing my son will sit/sleep on other than us or the PNP. He hates the swing, regular boppy, bouncer & freestanding vibrating seat.

  • Ah, see what I mean about conflicting views? ;)

I just can't decide...maybe I'll just wait till she gets here and see how it goes...was trying to decide if I should put it on our registry, but I think I'll wait.

  • We never had one. We used the swing, FP RnP, our PnP, and bouncy chair for lounge spots.

  • It was a must for us, but our DD was 6 weeks early and too small for a bouncer or swing.  We also used this for her to sleep in under the cabana at the beach or in the yard- so much easier to pack and lug around then a bouncer IMO.
  • I'd say skip. If you think your LO needs it based on your experience at the hospital then you can just get it... hubby and I had one and we weren't even sure what to do with it lol. Needless to say our baby did not need it!
  • It's cheap enough that I said it's a must. Even if the lifespan is somewhat short...if it makes you life easier at any point I think it's worth the money.
  • I forgot to add I bought it at Once Upon A Child for around $10.

  • I vote must! My girl loved hers. Also, I saw last week that Boppy is doing a registry sweepstakes at Babies R Us right now so why not add it!
