January 2011 Moms

Amazon Mom Changes

In case any of you didn't get/see the email:

The Amazon Mom program is changing in 2012 and we want to make sure you know about it. Some of these changes affect your membership. Here's how:

  • Starting on January 24, 2012, the maximum discount available on diapers and wipes subscriptions will be 20%. This includes a 5% Subscribe & Save discount plus an additional 15% exclusively for Amazon Mom members who are earning free shipping benefits or have an active Amazon Prime membership.
  • Customers who join Amazon Mom in 2012 will get three months of FREE Two-Day Shipping benefits. Once the initial free period is over, customers can join Amazon Prime to continue to receive full access to Amazon Mom and Amazon Prime benefits.

Since your free shipping benefits have ended and you have not yet joined Amazon Prime, the additional 15% Amazon Mom discount on diapers and wipes subscriptions will expire on January 24, 2012.

We hope that you have enjoyed the value and convenience of your Amazon Mom membership over the past year. To continue receiving all the benefits of Amazon Mom, join Amazon Prime for $79/year. As a Prime member you'll receive:

  • 20% off diapers and wipes subscriptions with Amazon Mom and Subscribe & Save.
  • FREE Two-Day Shipping on millions of items.
  • Unlimited instant streaming of thousands of videos with a wide range of content for the whole family, including Sesame Street and Phineas and Ferb.

Re: Amazon Mom Changes

  • I like the part where it says I can invite four of my household members to use my subscription.  Thank goodness, because I never let H use any of my accounts to order ANYTHING! *eyeroll*

You mean you don't want Marley on there ordering Beggin' Strips? :p

I think I'll be using diapers.com from now on.

  • LOL, Marley would order some diapers so he could eat them! When I used disposables I cant tell you how many times he would try to dig them out of the garbage like it was his lifes mission!

Is diapers.com a good deal? I never used either of those. I always got Target or Walmart brand, I think i'd get 96 for 13 dollars, up to size 4.  I know some diapers dont work good on certain babies though. Maybe we have been lucky!

  • You made me curious, so I ran some price comparisons. This is for a 140 count box of Pampers Baby Dry Size 6.

Amazon - $47.19 regular, $44.83 with subscribe & save discount

Diapers.com - $45.99, they accept paper coupons that you mail to them

BRU - $45.99, but they have a buy 9, get 1 free program

    Target - $49.99

Diapers.com accepts paper coupons (you mail them in) so that's a plus. BRU has a Buy 9, get the 10th free program. They also run a lot of "Buy 2 boxes of diapers, get a base of wipes free" deals. Target you have to watch for sales and hope you're one of the lucky people that get their coupons in the mail.

We're still planning to switch to cloth, but we have to get this washer/dryer situation figured out first.

It sounds like its worth the hassle to just have them sent to you. Especially since you said you live farther from stores than my 3 mile drive to Target or whatever. Do Pampers just work best for A? To me, that price is insane!  Does she leak out of others?

Speaking of insane prices..I am so happy to be on my last can of formula!!

Yea, $46 sounds pretty crazy when I'm used to paying $37 on Amazon. At least we're going through diapers a lot slower these days.

We've tried Huggies multiple times and always had bad luck. The last time I tried them, she'd leak out within an hour. I guess they just don't do well with her body shape. I tried Target, but they smelt weird (IMO) and I didn't like that they got hard when wet instead of squishy. Absorbency level was just okay. I keep crawling back to those darn Pampers, lol.

I recently switched to CVS formula (since Target is just too far and they've been out of the big cans the past two times I went). It's $6 cheaper than Similac - wahoo. Anyways, I hope to get her on WCM completely before this tub runs out. I started giving her "real" meals today for lunch and dinner and it went really well. And I told DH that he cannot touch the food I buy for her.

  • Hooray about the real meals! I hope it goes smooth for you. I find it a little tricky, but so far so good!

  • I was sad to see the changes in Amazon mom....  I was comtemplating using them for diapers & wipes instead of chasing coupons and sales to get cheap diapers.  My LO does fine with Pampers, Huggies or the Walgreens brand of diapers.  I have about 20 packs stocked in his closet right now along with about 15 things of wipes.  I guess it is back to chasing sales - There are 3 major drug store chains, three grocery stores and Wal-Mart all very close to my office so I can run out at lunch to pick up items that are on sale.

  • To clarify: this means that you no longer get free shipping on things with Amazon Mom, right? And it also means that there's less of a discount on the other subscribe and save items?

This really sucks. I don't feel that we're really saving $79/year with the discount on these items, but having things arrive at your door is really nice. Plus, I've been ordering everything off of Amazon and if I don't have free shipping, that might not be worth it anymore. Grrrr!
