Random things that SS8 said during our Christmas visitation that made me LOL (and give a side eye too)

SS - "SM, why do you and daddy drive BMWs?"

ME - "Well, they are reliable and are very safe. Why do you ask?"

SS - "My mom says only people who want to show off have BMWs."

ME - "Daddy and I work very hard for what we have."

SS - "I know! My mom is just a hater bc she said you and daddy make waaay more money than she does bc you're both in the Army."

haha I know that will backfire on me bc earlier that day he heard the song that starts with "haters in the building" and he asked me what a hater was. I explained it was a jealous person who wanted something that someone else had.

I am just so tired of hearing BM downplay DH accomplishments to SS. DH and I dont make a ton of money bc of our profession, but we work hard for what we make.

Wow. I don't even discuss financial matters with my 16yr old. She really is a hater. My ds wanted an iPhone. I said no, we don't have the money for that and you don't need it. Apparently he told his dad who replied that with as much child support as he paid we should be able to buy 5 iPhones . I wanted to scream that the child support has been the same since 1998 and how his dad blows money on motor cycles and supports his drunk brother I didn't. I explained that what I meant was that iPhones are not in our budget. His child support goes for food,shelter and in a college fund. It really pissed me off and it sucks being the bigger person.

I guess in her mind it is. I do know that the amount she receives in child support is more than she makes working full time at her job.

SS is 8 and during this trip he asked me how much we pay for rent and how much our car cost. I told him that unless he intended to help pay for the bill he didn't need to know the amount. Perhaps that's a bit blunt, but it is how I feel.

Not too blunt at all. It's none of his business. Plus i wouldnt doubt he would just be reporting back to his mom.Ds1 has asked how much money I make a yr. I told him that was none of his concern. He would always be cared for and thats all he needed to know.
