My son will be 15months on the 18th of January and he is still not talking... nothing not even Mama or Dada. He is smart he listens when we tell him to do something but no words. My Dr. said not to be worried hes probably just a little lazy with speech, but its hard when you read the baby books and they say he should be saying up to five words. Any advise?
Re: how to get my baby talking...
DD isn't saying much either, but talks jibberish a lot. Our Dr. said not to worry, late talkers usually catch up by kindergarten.
I fully agree - give it time and every child is different. My DS, at 21 months, only says Mama and Dada and I'm not worried nor is his Pedi. It's not usually until after 2 that our Pedi may make other recommendations.
I ask DS to tell me what it is, rather then him just pointing and us answering him. Sounding it out is good, too. I'm certain he's said about 10 other words, but not consistently. It'll happen.
