PINK!!
Anna Grace was born today at 4:20 pm 7lb. 10 oz. 20"
Birth story:
Last night I posted about some bloody show followed by some contractions. But the contractions went from every 8 minutes to every 4 to sporadic and irregular around 3 am, ending completely at 7am. The rest of my morning was normal then again around 11:45 contractions started again. They were never my whole belly or felt like super sore abs like last time, they were low, crampy, and felt like pressure like I had to use the bathroom each time. Again they were every 8 min. then every 4, but only lasted 30 seconds or so. After an hour I called my OB and she said they needed to be at least a minute in length and every 5 min or so for 2 hours. (Another doctor told me just 1 hour since it was my second). Luckily they picked up to every 3 min. and increased in length just in time to coordinate with DS's nap. I put him in and anxiously waited for my time limit to call again. At 2:30 I called again and she told me she'd been waiting to hear from me and what took me so long... um, your advice?? DH came home from work MIL came over for DS and we were off to the doctor. (On the drive I told DH "screw going natural I want that epidural when I get there. If it hurts this bad now imagine how it will be later on.")
We got to the hospital and they were out of wheelchairs. I wasn't waiting around for one because I was feeling such intense pressure and felt like LO was about to fall out. We walked across the hospital to get to the L&D elevators. Well I got there at about 3:15 and after 30 min of admittance and questioning they were getting me ready for my epi. I thought it was awesome that they were already setting up for that. My doctor examined me. She told me "I don't know if you're going to like what I have to say...but you can't have your epidural" (I thought she was about to tell me I wasn't far enough along.) Actually she told me I was already at 10 and the only thing holding baby in was the need to break my water. She went to change and prep the room and 15 long minutes later it was time to push. After pushing for 3.5 hours with DS I was both thrilled and terrified to start pushing again...especially since I had no pain meds in me at all.
20 minutes of pushing later I heard the amazing words... "It's a girl!" They placed her on my chest and I was in love! No one in our families got there in time because she came so fast! DH had to wait til everyone arrived to deliver the news that we have our first girl in both sides of our families!
I had a 2nd degree tear but she said it was more that the one I had last time reopened. She scored a 9 and 9 on her Apgars and just had some minor body temp issues. BF is starting out okay, but we have some latching issues to work on.
I can't wait to upload pics to share! I kept saying over and over that LO could come any day this month except Friday the 13th...so logically that's the day she decided to come...but it couldn't have turned out any luckier for us!
Re: Team Green turned Team...
Omg congrats! And kudos for making it through a med free birth, I think I would have been out of sorts if I was told an epi wasn't possible for me lol.
Please share pics when you can and YAY TEAM PINK!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I see you're at the Jersey Shore also...which hospital are you in? It would be crazy if we were Bumping from the same hospital with our newborns.
Congrats on baby Anna! (I was totally convinced you were team blue hehe)
And amazing job on the natural birth. I can't believe you were already at 10cm!
