Is anyone having an early shower?

My shower is scheduled for March 23rd!! I'm very excited about it, but I'm starting to feel self conscious that it's too early. I would much prefer an early shower to a late shower so I'm not sure why I'm so concerned about this. For some reason I have visions of people getting the invitation and thinking to themselves that it's too early.

For what it's worth I need to update my ticker/sig because baby is a boy and is due an entire week ahead of schedule.

What do you think, not a big deal or embarrassingly early?

Also, I would never say anything to my hostess about this and I'm so very thankful to be getting a shower! Plus, it was me that originally wanted the shower early so we could plan and prepare for returns and remaining purchases. I'm just starting to doubt myself.

I would love an early shower, DH and I are counting on a lot of shower gifts because we don't have a lot of extra money but I think everyone in my family wants to wait until after the baby is born so you are very lucky, I have no idea what we're going to do without a pre-baby shower! I wish mine was early

How many weeks will you be? I had a really hard time narrowing down a weekend for my Aunt who is planning my shower 9 hours away. (Most of my family lives in NY so she's hosting a NY shower and my Sister is hosting one in VA.) I didn't want to go super late in the pregnancy since it will entail a 9 hour car trip each way, so I decided on April 28th. I'll be 31 weeks. I'm not even sure when the "typical" time is to have a baby shower.

With my new due date, that will put me at 28 weeks! Eeek! Now I'm feeling even more self conscious!

I don't think 28 weeks is early at all. At the very least, it'll give you more time to get the things you don't receive on your shower.

Mine is March 17th. I am traveling for it, so my family doesn't have to.

I will be exactally 28 weeks. I don't think it's too early.

However, this is a joint shower w/ my sister. She is due 2 and a half weeks before me. We can't have it in April, so this is the only time.

I'm not having an early shower-- mine is April 29th-- but I see nothing wrong with an early one!! I actually would probably really prefer it, but I didn't know if it was against 'etiquette' to ask to have one earlier than in my 30th week. My hostesses are my sisters, so while they offered me a shower, they told me to pick the date! So I tried to go happy/medium.

Like PP said, I think you're fine. I don't think it's anything to be embarrassed about. Plus, if baby happens to come earlier than planned, you will be prepared!!

One of my showers is 12 hours from home (with DH's family and friends), so it's in February. I'll be 24 weeks. The one at home for my family and friends is going to be at the beginning of March, so I'll only 27ish weeks then.

I don't think there's anything wrong with having it early. Granted, most singleton mommies do wait until later, but I think it's just a preference thing.

I have to agree with the others - 28 weeks is fine. I have to have mine at 29 weeks due to family schedules (dh's family vetoed the entire month of April!)

I would not spend one more minute worrying about this. I think it makes a lot of sense to have it at that time and for goodness sake, you'll be 6 months pregnant! You'll definitely look pregnant. My friends are throwing me a shower in March/April and I told them March would actually be better for me.

My friend is scheduling one for 26 weeks. I have heard that earlier is better for twins anyhow, but it's not that early anyhow.

Mine is going to be in Feb. My mom is coming into town from out of state and I wanted her there. I will be 24 weeks I think. You are fine.

I don't think it's too early at all. My shower for DD was a full 2 months before my due date. It was actually perfect and gave me plenty of time to get everything exchanged/washed/put away and buy everything I still needed without feeling rushed.

I think that having an early baby shower is fine. I would not even worry about it.

My family is planning mine for mid April but my hubby and I are going to be traveling 1,200 miles each way (we live in Florida and ALL of our family lives in Michigan). Looking forward to the shower just not the trip.
