Hello,
My family moved to the area this week, and I am noticing some odd symptoms (seizure related) in my 7 month old. Can anyone refer me to a great pediatrician or family practitioner - prefer someone more open to natural medicine & delayed vax. We are currently in Newton, but will probably end up in either Dedham or the Franklin/Wrentham/Foxboro area.
I am pretty much freaking out and kinda scared because I don't know anyone here and don't even have a doc to call
Waiting to hear from my doc at home (cincinnati) but in all reality, what is she going to do?
TIA! ~ Heather
Re: URGENT: New & need Pediatrician or Good Family Practitioner
Hi Heather,
I used Mansfield Pediatrics for my son (8 1/2 months) and they have been incredible. They have offices in Mansfield and Westwood. They respected my desire for an altered vaccination schedule which I still do now. Just to be fair they are pro-vaccination and more "typical" pediatricians. They most likely will send you to Norwood hospital. So if would rather go to a Boston hospital I suggest taking you infant to the ER.
Did you infant get a high fever? Sometimes when infants get a fever very quickly they will have baby seizures.
I hope your little one is doing ok and good luck!

Westwood/Mansfield Pediatrics is good as mentioned above but they also do not have a lab for blood or xrays in the same building which I prefer. It's possible they can refer to Newton Wellesley Hospital (but I don't remember) but they were great when we used their ER.
I just go to Dedham Medical Associates now for Pediatrics, it's a very large facility with all types of doctors, labs right in the building. Locations are in Dedham & Norwood.
My son also had high fevers & a couple of seizures. We ended up seeing specialists at Children's Hospital in Boston - Dr. Licamelli specializes in something called PFAPPA, they were AMAZING. Good Luck!
I highly recommend Pediatric Associates of Norwood and Franklin (just google it - they have a website) The drs and nurses are very helpful and they always have weekend hours if you need it.
I'm sorry, that's so scary!
We go to Newton Wellesley Family Medical in Walpole. I love it, but we are on a regular vax schedule so I don't know how they are with that.
DS has seen a pediatric neurologist, Dr Alan Silken, for seizure symptoms. He is very good with DS, as is everyone in his office. His office is in Norwood (and he may have an office in Newton as well, IIRC), he is affiliated with Newton Wellesley Hospital.
