Arm's Reach regular or convertible?

My cousin swears by the Arm's Reach and has used it with both of her children. She has the regular mini one and I asked her about the Arm's Reach convertible but she didn't know anything about it. I didn't see it at BRU so it is hard for me to see how it works but it turns into a playyard. Is it worth the extra money?

Re: Arm's Reach regular or convertible?

  • I have the mini and it is "convertable," but to be honest, it's such a pain to convert it that I probably won't be using the bassinet setting.  I imagine it's even harder to convert the bigger one to a play yard.  If you have a brick and mortar anywhere that carries it you might try fiddling with it first.

Also, the mini is the only one that really fits in my bedroom, so if space is an issue, keep that in mind.

  • I have the mini and it has served it's purpose. We never attached it to our bed and now have the crib side car(r)ed instead. I got it for $50 on CL so I'm not too terribly disappointed in the lack of use we got out of it.

  • We got the regular so we could use it longer. The mini is kind of tiny. Our room is big enough to hold the regular, but not big enough for a side carred crib, so that was a factor.

  • Oh, and another factor was that it is the same size as a pack n play, and we didn't want to buy a separate pack n play. We weren't sure how much we would use it as a PnP, but did end up using it that way on vacation when she was a year old. (we went camping)

  • Don't get the Mini or the Convertible -- go for the full sized one (the Original). It's the size of a regular pack and play. DD still uses ours when we travel. I think it's so much sturdier than a regular pack and play, plus I love the sheets they sell. We never attached it to the bed, but we used it as a bassinet for the first four months of DD's life.
