down to 1 nap?!?

I just laid Nat down to bed... it's 10pm. Her usual bedtime is 7:00. She didn't seem tired so I held off til 7:30 but I laid her down and she cried and rolled around for over an hour so I brought her out- she was happy as could be. She sat and ate goldfish while DH and I watched a movie. It's like she wasn't even sleepy. The twins usually nap like 9:45-11 and then 2-3:30. I really had to fight to get her down for her 2nd nap and she only slept 35 mins.

The question in this ramble is- anyone's LO start 1 nap early? J didn't switch until 1 year. If I switch her to 1 nap and B is still taking 2 my whole day will be "oh sorry we can't, a baby is napping"...

Re: down to 1 nap?!?

  • I hope this is just a fluke for you! Eve dropped her 2nd nap between her 1st b-day and 13 months and from what I've read, that is still on the "early" side.. a lot of kiddos still do 2 naps til 18ish months.

my Natalie is still not on a nap schedule... *sigh*

  • I bet it's just a fluke. Maybe something was bothering her- ears, gas, teeth, etc where it kind of hurt her to lay flat.  I would try and do everything you can to have her keep her 2 naps still. T kept hers for a long time I want to say almost to 18 months. The book I'm reading now has a chart that shows the age of a baby/child and how much sleep they need at that age. It talks about how many babies/ toddlers don't get the # of hours that they should be and need.

  • I hope it's a fluke, too.  Seems really early. Gavin went down to one nap around 15 months old.
  • That seems really young for her to have one nap. If it was just one day, I would say it was a fluke. Maybe she is getting ready to hit a milestone?
  • It's been 3 days in a row :(

NikCole.. I think you might be on to something. She just FINALLY started army crawling around. Pretty big milestone for a little girl who has shown 0 interest in moving while he brother crawls circles around her.

  • My DD dropped her 2nd nap around 9-10 months.  It was taking FOREVER to get her to nap, and I had to be AT preschool at noon to pick up my older DD, and a late nap was getting in the way.  It was time to drop it.
