So DH and I are going to the Bahamas here in Feb for 5 nights. I just found out that our resort room does not have a fridge! I am still bfing and have a goal to breast feed until 1 year old. I don't want to stop because of the vacay. So I was thinking about keeping the milk cold in a cooler in our room with ice for the 6 days. I read online that you can carry breast milk in your carry on with ice as much as you want since it is considered a medication. So I am not so worried abour bringing the milk home. I just have to keep it cold!
Any other ideas anyone has? Thanks!
Re: transporting breast milk
I think that it would be best if you could find a way to freeze it when you pump it. I don't think most of it will keep for that long unfrozen.
Does the hotel have a freezer they would let you store it in during your stay?
As one PP mentioned, I don't think that milk will keep that long in the refrigerator. I only leave milk in the fridge for 4 days max. I think I found that on Kellymom. Is there a way to freeze it?
ETA: If you freeze it in larger quantities, it will stay frozen better/longer. I would shoot for 6 oz in a bag.
